boost sensor question

ok, here's my situation. i pop my hood today, and find out that the vacuum hose that connects the boost sensor to the motor has fallen off. the thing is, other than running slightly rich, the car has ran fine for weeks and i havent noticed anything odd about driving it. it boosts 8psi fine and will pull up to redline (at least in the first 3 gears, havent tried any others), without running lean (according to my autometer a/f gauge) i hooked it back up, and immediatly noticed what im guessing is boost cut, which was rather disturbing. i dont have an fcd, but i do have a modified wastegate to increase boost.

so what issues am i looking at? the car runs great without the boost sensor, but will it cause damage, or is my car not reaching full potential? any info will be appreciated.
