boost pressure loss wont turn on
driving on highway on the way to school and my boost meter spiked up and I heard a weird noise so I pulled over right away and the car shut off. Popped the hood and I smelled a burning oil smell but everything seemed ok. Tried to crank it up again and it goes but just won't turn over. I know one of the gaskets for the turbo was broken and I ordered new ones but I'm not sure, bought the car this past weekend off a forum member. Any ideas or suggestions to look for, first rotary. Thanks

i was cruising, just going 60 on the highway omw to school and the needle bounced up and as i was pulling over the engine shut off. I popped the hood, smelled like sulphur a bit, not much smoke. When i tried cranking it again it would crank but not turn over. Now that im home im going to research the **** out of it.

When you have a boost spike like that it causes a lean situation since the fuel maps can't compensate for the over-boost. In the end, you have esentially created detonation in the engine and most likely have blown an apex seal. Any time your engine runs lean (especially in turbo engines), it has catastrophic conseqeunces. Best bet, your engine is blown and will need rebuilt. depending on the milage and seals that were in it (i'm assuming stock) you will be looking at new housings as well.
