boost gauge probs...lousy or no reading

ok i bought a Faze boost gauge today, not knowing exactly where to put it, i tied it into the vacuum line running from the manifold to my BOV......it gave a little reading, and i did notice some leaks coming from the hose clamps i used....well just to make sure i was doing it right i looked at my Haynes manual, it said to check boost pressure, hook up a manual boost gauge to the hose going from the intercooler to the air bypass control valve. so i figured that's where i put it, well now it doesn't even show a reading at all......where do you guys have your boost gauge tied into, bc evidently i'm doing it wrong.

yea i have a y-connector, one end to the intercooler, the other end to the air bypass valve and the part that y's off goes to the boost gauge....i dont know if this is the prob but the gauge uses that skinny nylon tubing and the y-connector and the hose from the intercooler are way fatter, so i compressed the nylon hose to a fitting like you would find on the back of the guage and just used some fuel hose to connect it to the y. i tightened the crap out out the nut to compress the hose real good, is there such a thing as tightening the nut too tight.
