Question Boost on FCON

I was wondering, i have front mount, 720cc injectors, PFC FCON, 3inch TID, the works basically and i was wondering what PSI i could run on the stock turbo ( currently not ported ) safely.... i know it spikes and creeps in 4th and 5th but having the car untuned what could i set the PSI at safely untill i get on the dyno?...

thanx guys....

that fcon can crank the fuel pretty good. the little dial on the inside changes the to the different map levels.

depending on how much fuel you have... for can turn it up some, maybe more than 10... but it depends.

do you have the stock 4x550s? the fcon is made for stock injectors...
fuel pump?

the only way to know how much fuel you have is to get a wideband or get on a dyno.

you can boost as high as you want till the turbo blows out

really though, the f-con would give enough fuel... but could the stock turbo spin that high?

hmm, i was just wondering before i get it tuned, i'm sure it's running stupid rich right now, i want 13psi but i thought i would wait till i get it on the dyno too up the boost....

or are you saying i should be rich enough to run higher boost before tuning...?

just fcon by itself and STOCK injectors.... you are pretty much safe to whatever the stock turbo could pull out....

and you have 720 secondaries... so you will be fine with whatever the stock turbo blows

the little dial on the inside for the fcon allows you to adjust the whole map. if you have 720s then maybe try setting 3 or 4 and boost 13psi. if its crazy right up top and ignition breaks up then turn the fcon down a click at a time till it dosnt break up.

it should be hella rich as it is with the 720s.

the fcon modifies the signals going to and from the injectors according to the map you choose on the fcon itsself. unless the fcon is programmed for 720's the fcon still beleives you are using the stock injectors and tehre for will still allow you to run stupid rich. the fcon cannot take out fuel but it can add fuel and with they way you have your carsetup, you need to take out some fuel to tame the 720's from dumping in too much fuel. id suggest getting the fcon sentout and reprogrammed or switching over to an safc so you can properly add or subtract and fine tune the fuel curve so it doesnt run as rich -alex

Or get rid of the 720's? What will this do to his setup? What if he just didn't have the 720's, and just had the stock 550's with the fcon? Would he be better off or would he blow the 550's, or still be running right, or be leaning out? Something I always wanted to know.

yeah i have the GCC aswell for the FCON....

but in a few weeks when i get my new turbo and dyno time i'll be installing my SAFC-II

aslong as i dont have to worry about blowing something up or breaking something, i'll run like this for a week or 5....

Not meaning to thread jack but if I wanted to use the FCON above "0" i would definitely need to buy 720's or turn up my boost? Pretty stock '87 T2 with exhaust.

the fcon is for 550s only. if you plan to buy something... get a pair of 720s and a safc.

I already bought a HKS FCON, but I haven't put it on yet. So pretty much the FCON is useless since it always makes everything rich? What do you use a FCON for then.

with the dial at 0

it is the default f-con setting

it gives you map over the stock fuelcut limit

so you can boost as high as you dare on the otherwise stock car

and if you start modifying it, say an exhaust or intake, or whatever

you turn that dial to 3 or 4, so you can compensate for hte increased airflow

AND IT IS STILL ON 4X550

so you want to run 720 AND make the dial higher?

at 0 with 720cc secondaries, it will run like 6 or something on the stock injector setup!!
