boost controller

I finally got off my lazy *** and installed my Profec A in my new TII. When I did the learn mode, my car boosted up to .8 in third then I shifted and hit it again and had to let off the throttle, or it would have gone further. Before I installed the BC it never went past .6. So my question is, when it does the learn mode does it not open the wastegate at all? Or did I get the vac lines to the wastegate mixed up?

the ProfecA can sometimes be tricky. Ive had it overboost on me too. When its in learn mode it uses the stock wastegate actuator as boost control. Do you have a pill in the stock wastegate lines? Boost creep is normal for our cars, especially 87-88's they have a smaller wastegate. Funny how the Profec makes the creep worse though.

Thank you, I forgot to check for the pill in the line to the wastegate. I guess that would cause it. I will go look. What line it it in. The one from the hard line to the wastegate actuater?

yah, it should the hard line to the wastegate actuator. If you remove the pill it will drop the boost. Then you can use the Profec to bump it up.

wait I thought that if your remove the pill it will make the boost spike.

My boost was fine before this. Never spiked once.

the tighter the restriction, the more boost. When you remove the pill or drill it out, it lowers the boost.

The GReddy PRofec A has been known to not work very well with turbos that boost creep - this tends to confuse the self-learning.

as above the profect A doesn't work on any car with creep. my friend had one in his talon and his TII and it didn't work in either. well he managed to set it in the TII with pre cat and stock cat... but as soon as you dissconnect the battery you have to redo it. so he couldn't reset it after he got the downpipe and hi-flow cat in. he just put a manual one in both. profec now sittting in bedroom.

I think you can manuly teach it with a hand pump. but I'm not sure how...

I still have a cat. I just replaced it, and after that I never had boost creep. One time my wastegate line popped off and it would shoot up to 1.0 kg/cm^2 if I let it. It seems like the bc is making it act the same way.

Is there a way to tell if it is opening my wastegate.

I got past the learning mode, but it still is not working properly.
