body harness removal

hey guys

before anything i did search on google for 10 pages and didnt find fc relevant info
im in the process of doing a haltech install and would like to keep it as clean as possible.

at first i wanted to do a wire tuck but now that i think about it im unmotivated ..
but i would like to removal the harness that goes from the driver side cabin to the engine bay and removal and retape and clean up that harness.. and also id like to relocate the fuse box to a more "convenient" location. then in process of all this i also have to do a fuel pump rewire

thanks in advance fellas

I was in your shoes just a short while ago. I started with wanting to do a wire tuck as well and redoing my haltech harness. What i ended up doing was cleaning all the wires that i didnt need ie any unused connectors and best thing would be to de-pin in right from the fuse box to do it right, that was my plan anyhow. I rerouted it in tha same spot a stock along the ds frame rail with less wires so its not so bulky.

My plan for the halteck harness was to drill a hole over the tranny on the fire wall and run the harness behind the heater core. If you remove the glove box you can see what you are doing much better.

My reason for this was mainly because im doing a vmount setup for this season. And i had end play problems so i needed to pull the motor anyhow.

I will try to post some pics when i get a chance or maybe make a thread about it.

thanks guys..

i dont understand how to take out the harness completely tho like there has to be a way to remove the whole harness with out depinning or non of that bullspit so i can lay it on my work bench and cut what i dont need and then extend what i do need?

in Hinesight what would be the best way of pursuing this?

i need to relocate the fuel pump relay to the rear and incorporate the haltech fuelpump trigger to it
i want to relocate the engine bay fuse box to the trunk
i want to relocate the main fuse box to the trunk **** even to the golve box (i want/need to be able to see and reach all fuses easily)
i want to remove the wiring for the coils and replace it with new wire and incorporate the haltech harness into it

thats all i can remember right now essentially i want to have it as neat as oem.

(sorry if this is incoherent... i hurt my back so i popped a perk..)

I've removed all the electrical harnesses from a few FC coupes, but never to trim/repin/rewrap. Haven't done a battery relocation either but planning to do so in the near future.

It'll be easier to get at everything with the interior removed. There's a harness that goes along the interior of the dash.

For the engine harness you unplug stuff around the passenger kick panel and feed it through the hole in the passenger side firewall.

For the rest of it start unplugging everything in the engine bay, starting from the passenger headlight, to the driver headlight, and along the driver's side shock tower. Then feed it through the hole in the driver's side firewall. Feed plug...pull..feed plug...pull...

The rest of the harness goes along the driver's side, to the driver's rear, and wrap around to the passenger rear. I don't know if the engine side and interior side can be disconnected, but I never attempted it.

There are a few more harnesses for the bin lights and sunroof, but they disconnect from the big harness.

Pay attention to where all the little plastic guards and pins go.

Everywhere I've read says to put the fuses as close to the battery positive as possible, within 18" IIRC. You can try relocating the battery and engine bay fuses to the passenger bin and have the fuse box in the glove compartment. You'll need a breaker or something in the engine bay for the wire that goes from the alternator post to the fuse box.

As for moving the fuel pump relay and new wiring for the coils, you're on your own. Good luck!

its not hard to get the harness out. it may be time consuming but not really that intensive. the engine bay fuse block just has plugs on it like everything else.

hey guys

i ran 1/0 cable thru the body harness garment and soldered a relay to the fuel pump
but relized that i soldered the blue and red? that connects to the plug and transfers to a black and white wire.
anyway before i make this drown since i have a haltech e6x should i just bypass all that bullspit and wire the fuel pump trigger (orange and gray ) to the black and white on the fuel pump?

im relocating the batter to the hatch for aesthetics and room
