BNR Turbo/RteK1.7 evaluation
After about 2 months of not driving my car, i finally have everything worked out (for now ).
The BNR turbo is on, 720cc in the seccondaries and 820cc in the primary. Running under the Rtek1.7.
The first thing you notice about the turbo is that its there, I dont mean inside the car...I mean under the hood. It definitely looks much more menacing than the stocker, with the big intake side and exhaust bolted right up to the back you can tell that this setup means some business.
Inside the car fires up with NO throttle and just a quick turn of the key. Very impressive. It hasn't started this good probably since the car has been new.
I have NEVER been able to start the car with NO throttle BEFORE the RteK 1.7 was installed.
Now for the drive...
When driving the car for the first time you might not even notice that this is a hybrid turbo (that is, untill you got WOT). The car drives like it did before and has no noticeable lag increase. Actually I would say its more of an oppisite effect, and there seems to be MORE power from 2500rpms and up. Now when im around 4K I'm hitting 7-8 psi and its maxed by 5000rpms (10psi...spiked to 11.7).
Now Im giving estimates because the car pulls so much harder now that I really dont have time to look at the boost gauge, then the tach. Its more or less eyes on the road...beep...beep *looks at speedo* holy **** *brakes*
Needless to say the car pulls MUCH harder. Another nice plus is that there is a very cool *wshhhhhhh* sucking type noise that the turbo makes around 2000-3000rpms.
So I am very pleased with the power increase.
One other thing I noticed is that the boost didn't spike like it had with the stock turbo. On the stock one i would spike from 10-15psi sometimes (even with a profec boost controller), now the most i've seen it jump to is 11.7psi.
Brian from BNR supercars has also been very cool and good to work with. I had a problem and he helped and fix it as soon as I told him...even though I was a little fiery at first.
Also thanks to my mechanic Mike Lowe who installed the turbo and rebuilt the engine, awosome job. Gave him the car waxed and perfect, thats the way I got it back...also the install is pretty clean looking.
I still need to have the SAFC fine tuned, and go with a FMIC (heh anyone know where to get a kit for 600?).
Overall, I think im really maxxing out the stock intercooler for the power level i'm at.

So you running just the rtek 1.7 and those injectors without any tuning? Is it pretty rich? Any hesitation and whatnot? Also do you think you could get away with running 4X 720cc injectors with that setup? lol sorry for all the questions, I want that same setup, just wondering.
Thanks

^ good question Rxm.
What fuel pump are you using Lawerence? Also, is your powerband smooth for all that initial fuel? How's the transition from primary to secondary?
Sounds like an awesome setup... Good stuff man.

I have larger primaries because I got them for free so i figured I'd see how they run.
But the car has no hot start, stumbling or flooding problems at all.
And the power throughout the whole rpm rang seems to be very smooth, with a biggest jump from 4-5k rpms.
Car seems like its running super rich after 6K though and I think there is alot more power to be made with the SAFCII.

man thats what I'm thinking ^^^^^ I have a bnr III with 720cc primaries and 890 cc secondaries and I get so much hessitation etc with them because it runs so damn rich plus I have all sorts of hot start issues it's stupid. I'm currently looking for stock 550s to put back in the primary location and will stay with 890cc secondaries. I also have the same mods as you (rtek, safc)
