Rebuild it and learn how your engine works,or Replace it with either a Rebuilt, remanned,or used..Honestly it's your choice. It may cost you less to buy a used engine but then again,it may not last..so,there,again it comes down to what you want to spend, how long you are going to keep the car for,HOW you are going to drive your Car(autoX or DailyDriver,Drag strip on Sunday?)..

There are also a few sites you can get rebuilt engines with mileage warranties,so if it decides to kick out your good, honestly i wouldnt buy from any where tat doesnt offer a warranty on a rebuild.

i would tear it out and tear it down, see if it's still a good candidate for a rebuild...if so, rebuild it! knowledge is power

Do a compression test if you can; If you show even poor compression, then most internal parts are probably reusable. However, if you see some significantly varied compression numbers, you probably have scarred the rotors and housings to the point where they're unusable. Hell, if you're gonna have the car sitting for a while anyways, you should probably just take the engine out, open it up, and see what you're looking at.

fwiw, you're not going to get a good rebuild for $1k. you can get a used motor for less than that, but you're still not going to know how good it is. so, if you're only looking to spend $1k, sell the 7 and find another car

i don't want that to sound mean, but if you somehow find a new rebuild for $1k, you're rolling the dice on whether it's any good.

Stage one
Model: 1 year 12,000 mile warranty

Stage 1

Here at Rx7World every engine goes through the following detailed process
Tri level metal cleaning process.
a detailed inspection of every part to ensure only the very best parts are used.
Engines are rebuilt with new internal seals, Bearings and gaskets.
Final assembly of the engine includes setting all clearances within Mazda tolerances to insure long engine life.
After final assembly, each engine is compression checked to ensure quality and standards.
After final assembly the coolant system is pressurized to 30 psi for 30 minutes.

To customize your engine order, like add a mild street port go down the page and select the options you want, then select order to get a total price.

The default is a 86-88 non turbo engine, which means if you click on Order that will be the engine you ordered, if you need a different engine see the product option below for the correct prices.

Tech support is free with any engine purchase 7 days a week 1-866-230-6173

$1,199.00

Only $200 over what your saying and im behind this guy 100 percent

If all thats blown is the water seals then rebuild it. If it was in good running order before then you can probly reuse most your irons and get a rebuild kit.
