big turbo performance question

big turbo performance question
ok here it is.. i plan on running a turbo that is about the same thing as a holeset turbo off of a dodge cummins diesel.. it has a t3 twin scroll flange and no wastegate.. i plan on getting a manifold from ebay that is a standard t4 flange and making an adapter and using a 40mm 4 bolt watsegate.. i am just wondering if anyone is using a turbo in this size range or if someone has used a holeset with some kind of feed back just looking for a little imput.. but please no flaming my plans with just go to a t4 cause i already ahve this one.. thanks\

Can you translate the size of the turbo or give us a comparison? I have no idea what size the dodge turbo is.. I mean I once saw a dodge ram turbo under the hood but it really didn't look that big....

its a little smaller than a full trim t4 but not much and has a t3 flange if anyone know what a hole set is that is on a cummins its damn near the same thing but mine came from a case tractor and is a kkk brand... some german made turbo

How much power are you looking to make?

it is NOT a T3 like i said.. it is just a little smaller than a T4 but not by much at all.. doesnt anyone know what a hole set turbo is it makes the stock P.O.S turbo look like a childs toy

well i will have to get my pics of the turbo and post them.. the hot side and cold side are the same size and they are a bit fatter than a stock holeset turbo.. so what kind of power sould i expect from this set up i have an 89 s5 with racing beat cat back with a test pipe and 3 inch downpipe with a full emmision removal and electric fan i have an safc2 but i plan to use something different to control the fuel it has stock injectors and a rewired walbro 255 fuel pump.. im oging to use 720 secondaries and a stock primaries to keep the fuesl milage.. any moer recomendations on how to control the fuels would be awsomwe and some 1/4 mile estimates on like 5lbs and on 14lbs of boost.. thanks

you'll make more power than you are now.....but a rough guess on the very low side would be 260 to the wheels.
but the real question is did you stumble on the turbo, manifold, custom adapter thats required and all the rest of it for free.99? Because really at the point you are taking it to you may as well go with a full TO4.
But do it up and post numbers - thats the only way to tell....it will work with enough time and money (BTW probably nearly as much money as a full upgrade when its all said and done....and tuned)

ok as i said earlier i did not wont to hear "oh just go with a T4" .. you know why. because i dont what to be like every other tom dick and hearry with a piece of **** ebay ss auto chrome set up...i am using a very good german made turbo and a manifold that is a nice custom piece and i have the ability to make the "cutosm" adapter. all said and done ill have around 300 in the manifold and wastegate and the turbo was a free bee with less than 1000 hours.. so keep the flaming to yourself...

Cummins turbos = small. If I was gonna pick up a turbo out of the junkyard it would be off a cat or a detroit, one of the smaller engines of course. That or if you are lucky pic up a variable geometry turbo off of a new mercedes semi, and dont forget the ECU that goes along with it.

Let's cut the bullshit and pop the compressor and turbine housings off and MEASURE THE WHEELS.
Then we'll talk about if it's too small, too big, or just right.
Saying "it is just a little smaller than a T4" makes you look bad, cause "T4" could mean anything from a T04B S-trim (which is just about the same size as the stock Hitachi HT-18 or as big as a T04E "60" which can make twice as much power as the T04B S-trim.
If you want to sound like you know what you're talking about, get those measurements on the wheels.

ok its a k27
it has a 2.7" compressor wheel
the compressor wheel has a 65% ratio
well thats the hot side and the cold side is

well it ran 18lbs of boost on a 6 cylnder tractor.... it doesnt really compare to most of them it may have 2.7 inch major but the minot is like almost 2.5 on the minor on both the hot and the cold side.. but i belive that this turbo shouldnt run out of power all i plan on going to is 14psi max.. i just keep grenading the stock turbos.. im on number 3.. why do you think it is a waste of time..

You really cannot compare rotary numbers versus piston numbers.
Take for example the "60-1"...
This turbo is used on 5.9l to 7.4l+ diesel engines.
But it mates well with a 13B.
Sure, you can crank up the boost, but you think your (stock?) ECU can handle it?
There are lots of good, aftermarket turbo options out there.
Messing around with other stock OEM **** is usually not worth it, cause they are not designed to run on a 13B.
The 13B can handle a big compressor section, but a turbo like this is usually found on gigantic turbo diesel heavy machinery that run gigantic turbine sections (i.e. A / R's).
So either you have too small of a compressor section or too big of a turbine section when looking at stock OEM **** laying around in some junkyard.

well in that case do you have a good cost effective wayt to go than... cause this was the budget way for me but if you dont think its big enough i dont want to waste my time and money on something that is not going to perform all that well... sugestions???

so how much do you think that k27 turbo i have is worth?? and by the way i was looking for a turbo that would last me a while not one that will go out on me in less than a yea. my buddy has a t4 ss auto chrome one and it has had maybe 10k miles at the most on it never going above 10psi and its already smoking.
