overestimate?! its used for cooling! one of the most important things on a rotary!

given, you DO still have the fan.. and it works, so as long as you dont have overheating problems, then your safe.

FYI - dragsters DO have fans.. my brother has an 87 mustang with an alcohol fuel powered small block - runs low 10s in the 1/4.. you'd be surprised how much the car runs while sitting still (waiting in line for his run)..

he has a stand alone belt system on the water pump. the water pump is electric, and drives a belt for a fan on the rad.

I think he is talking about top fuel dragsters, and funny cars. You know the one that run 6-7 second quater miles. I havn't seen a fan on one of those yet.

This has already been stated a **** load of times but....
1. Put your fan shroud back on because you are still using a push (piece of ****) clutch fan and the air is not getting directly to the radiator....no its not that big of a difference but were talking from being halfway to being at a cooler quarterway up on the gauge... Its your choice.
2. The AFM is SUPPOSED to be flat/horizontal SUPPOSED is the key word. It Varies from car to car...now dont take my word on it because obcviously my avatar tells it like it is but if it runs that way and it runs like it is supposed to then by all means run it that way... I have mine at a semi diaganal angle and it runs perfect...im not exaggerating. Just a few words of experience not wisdom. -Gabe

i dont know anybody stupid enough to not have a radcap

what the hell is WHAT infront of the overflow? i dont see anything..

BUT ANYWAYS something i noticed:

you have a new bracket welded by the rad, from a white rx7 i would guess..

whats the story behind that, dude?

ahh ok after looking at pics of YOUR car castrol, i see what you mean

both yours an mine have the coolant reservoir at the lead coil

but yours and mine are the only ones ive seen like that

everyone else's cars (that i saw at the ottawa rx7 meet) had their reservoir closer to the rad.

I had an 87 SE that had the tank in front of that coil, I believe that it only came on 87 models, but that is just a guess.

Mine sits at 1 quarter all the time, until it sits more then 10 mins, then it goes a little over half way. This is normal for no fan shroud, but it doesn't affect my driving since i don't sit in one place for more then 5 mins. If your riding on the highway it doesn't matter.

Yes, stock it sits horizontal. Ceratin kits, like the bonez make it sit up on it's side. They wouldn't sell it if it doesn't work. In the diagram of how to put it together it shows the correct orientation of the AFM. If you do the correct side, then it doesn't present any hesitation, if you do the wrong side up, or upside down, it creates a hesitation problem... I know this because i learned it the hard way.
