beep beep

my 86 gxl wont stop beeping when driving it ill just be driving along and it starts beeping it goes on for like 15 to 20 mins i dont have a clue as to what is wrong with it i just recently put a motor in it and i checked everything under the hood i can think of.

Have you checked the actual horn button? Like in my old camry, I got mad at my GF while driving and hit the steering wheel. It wouldn't stop beeping either. Luckily I had some tools with and took off the cover and fixed it.

do you have power steering? normaly a beeping is a power steering error code.

its not my horn thats beeping it like a warning beep but i will check my horn button cause it has different wheel on and mybe a wire touching something i dont know

yes could too much fuild cause it to beep because when i get on it it stops and a few mins later after i slow down it start agian

Oh my bad, I thought you meant it was your horn. Are there any warning lights on or do your warning lights even work?

yeah everything works fine no other lights come on or nothing just the endless beeping

does it come from under the steering column, if so it is probably something wrong with ps. maybe disconnect it if u want, i did that but i had to pull a fuse, can't remember which one though

yeah its coming from under the dash im going to try to drain some fuild out of it and see if thats it cause i filled it up to much

make sure all the connections are good, and the belts tight enough

Sounds like your low coolant level warning. Add some water or coolant.

Just start humming incessantly at the same pitch as the beep. In a couple of weeks you wont even notice the car beeping. Seriously though, it could be any number of things. Go through them all one by one.

I can't believe that no one has answered this yet.

The beeping is the error code from the power steering computer.

How many beeps before it pauses and starts over?

im not sure how many beeps it does but mybe like 15-20 beeps it gets quiet a little and thens comes back louder
