been down for a year... will have to wait another 6 months

Well... as a few of you know I've been diligently working to get my car running. Did a complete t2 engine/drivetrain swap, upgraded multiple systems on the car and even had all my electronics rebuilt. Car looks good, bay looks good, cabin looks good, but all this... to no avail. My engine has low compression and therefore is not reliable enough for me to drive daily. So, I have to wait another 6 months to save up enough money to get my engine rebuilt. I'm gonna get Chris Ludwig to do a level 4 rebuild on the engine, new housing, machined irons... the works... possibly even a small streetport. From what I've learned from friends and from others that purchased, which some of us believe is, an engine from the same person and this person uses apex seals with 100k miles on them. So, money wasted, life destroyed, I go even more time without my precious.

Ouch. Could you get a decent engine off someone, something that ran well enough for you to drive it at least for a year or two?

I feel you pain. My car has been down since early July and I don't expect it to be running again till summer. I got to save up the money and find the time to do it all.

I don't quite understand what you're saying here. Did someone sell you a "rebuilt" motor for your swap, but now you're thinking that the apex-seals were used 100k miles, therefore causing low compression?

What type of reliability issues are you experiencing with the low compression? Also, what are the numbers? (to get an idea of how bad it is)

If it's just hot-starting, have you considered a fuel-cut switch as a band-aid to help with daily-driving?
