Thumbs down BEAT BY A 1.8 toyota!

i know i had a sound system me( 240 lbs ) and maybe another 240 lbs of another person in the passenger seat in my 87 sport.
he started before me like 1- 1.5 seconds and had momentum passing me but the only gear i was pulling him in was 3rd but could never catch him . he has a car length on me the whole time im pissed how could i let this happen it was a very old carolla but damn im sad.
there were 2 skinny puerto riquenos in the carolla as to 1 chubby riqueno .and one chubby cubano in my r ex. i think it was a weight race but im not sure. from a stop i think i could beat em even with the extra weight. what do u guys think about my situation ?

Time to go on a diet, dude!

Seriously though, you said he did have a 1-1.5 second head start. That's quite a bit...even vs. a Corolla

1.8?&nbsp Gotta be a 3T - these things make good power if the owner how.&nbsp I've chased one with a built 3T and I could touch him on the FREEWAY with my Turbo II; owner later claim the motor did 200 to the wheels!

I took a 3T block, bored 4mm over TRD 11.5:1 slugs, with a Ported 2TG head and TRD headers, 2 X 45 DCOE Webers, and the Nastiest Cams TRD made, 9 lb flywheel. Idled like a pissed off Rhino and didn't make power until 5500! Fun.

Ah, the 2TG/3T hybrid - before Hondas ever used the term "hybrid"!

200hp to the wheels on a 1900# chassis is hard to beat even with a mildly modded FC turbo!

Car had a 4" chop on it with a Alston back-half. 1 problem: I couldn't sit in tha bastard! head hit the roof, even with the seafloorpan mounted level with the bottom of the 1.5 x 3 frame. Back when TRD gave customer suport. (84-88)

Ahhh, the uninformed. Wish I would have kept that car along with the PBS engineering Stroker motor in my X1/9.

I care! I don't really know too much about toyota's, but I care!!!

Something I don;t understand is why toyota's are not more popular... Compared to a honda, they are more reliable, better styling, equivalnet power and fuel economy... so why is it that new accords sell so much more than camry's?
Or is that just honda advertising?

a while back a buddy of mine dropped a 13b turbo engine in a corolla, they used to call him slingshot, he used to jump off the line, and he would fly by almost anyone, even beat a few supercharged stangs in his day.

I care too, in PR the wars are between Toyotas Vs Rotary engine, VW's sometimes get into action too.

Did you need the jaws of life to get out of the car? I didn't even know you could fit one 240 lb person in a rex, let alone two.
