Bearing noise
I've got an '76 NA and I have a bearing noise. It isn't there when I warm the car up, but after I drive it for a while and stop and idle I get a bearing noise. It doesn't make any difference it the clutch is in or not. It seems to go away above 1200rpm.

that's a pretty rare n/a you got there
i have bearing problems too... it's a bitch. except it only makes noise when i warm it up and the clutch is engaged. i would guess it's both your throw-out AND pilot bearings. you could do a search, or i could just tell you right here.. you can:
replace your gear oil
replace your bearings
rebuild tranny
buy another tranny
there's nothing else to do to get rid of it...
