I'm making one similar to this out of aluminum sheeting, not too hard, just takes some planning.
Going to use a thicker insulator around the edge though, and maybe modify some other things to get some airflow to the airbox.

-you must take into consideration that i haven’t made anything like this before so it wont be PERFECT(but pretty damn close) and every car is a little different so there may need to be some customizations done by the purchaser.
_i would also like to know if anyone REALLY cares about the stuff that goes on the edging. I hear people would like to see other stuff so i figure that i'll just leave that task to the buyer unless you just want the wire loom which i can send with it cut to length.
- think I may be able to start producing some of these at the end of next week(if they get the stuff in on time) putting availability to the beginning of the week after.

All of you oogleing the Intake box asking him to duplicate it, get off your lazy asses and MAKE ONE YOUSELVES. It doesnt take a ******* engineering degree. Just some time. You'll save yourself the money, and stop wasting this guys time. BTW yes nice engine bay speaking of well spent time and EFFORT. I don't think i've seen another white car that clean.

Well, to hell with it. I know i'd grab one. Haha. Yeah it might not be as 'effective' as a 'real' cold air intake, it's sure a cheaper prospective. I wouldn't mind receiving it flat as long as i've got a good guide for where to bend it.
Oh yeah, and as for staticguitar313, what's your problem with lazy people? I might not have tried to do this myslef yet (mostly knowing i'd come up with a POS) but I've seen pictures here and there of people who tried to do this, and they all looked like crap. Even if the function didn't matter, it looked sweet. I mean, come on, how much of a freakin gain are you really gonna get from a damned heat sheild? My opinion is based off of looks. If I wanted the most gain possible, i'd go about the time actually cutting and modding. But I'm lazy. DUH.

A little more work, and you have to worry about how your going to prevent the cut part from rusting, but I think it would be far mor effective. You can always relocate your battery, buy a generic windshield washer tank and put it where the battery was, or get lucky and grab the t2 washer tank, the "rear window" one mounted on the firewall.

After all that praise and adulation I hate to be the lone voice of dissent, but I think I need to add a little engineering reality.
While this is an excellent concept, it is far from a perfect design. The two most obvious flaws are that it isn't properly sealed from the engine bay and it only uses the stock intake duct. You need to remember that air is being sucked into the filter (not pushed) and that air will always follow the path(s) of least resistance, so air will be drawn into the box area from anywhere it can. It won't all come in through the duct just because you want it to. You have to force it to by eliminating as much as possible all alternative air paths. You need to make it much easier for the air to flow from your outside air source than it is to flow in from the hot engine bay.
To make it work effectively, the shield needs to be sealed to the underside of the hood and the duct needs to be better flowing. At the moment there's clearly a large gap at the top of the shield that will easily allow hot air to be sucked in. The stock duct isn't particularly good for flow, so while some air will be sucked through it, a large chunk of the air entering the engine won't be, which partially defeats point of the whole set-up. Instead of removing the stock duct, adding another path for outside air to enter the box will make it all work better without wasting what's already there.
It's a great idea, it just needs to be implemented more effectively.
