Bad mounts?

Ok, I have noticed that the rubber bushing on the bottom of my tranny mount is gone.. and I finally have cash to replace it (which I have ordered a new tranny mount) and it's on it's way,.... But lately I have been getting some wierd problems..

The car has vibrated because of the bad mount. but it doesn't shake violantly, until now.. if I'm on a hill and I start to go... the clutch will catch a little... going good.. Then SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE violent shakes and the engine dies... Anyone ever have a problem like this? I think my motor mounts may be bad, and am going to order some later today either way (they are the original mounts and probably not a bad idea to replace em) Just wanted to know if anyone has had a similar problem or heard of it...

Thank you for your help..

Yep. I've had the same problem.

The 86-88 motor and tranny mounts are weak, and when you start opening up the exhaust and intake, the extra torque you get tends to make it worse.

I can't remember the URL, but you can get upgraded motor/tranny mounts for our cars. I would also recommend the RB Torque Brace.

Thanks for replying Taranis, Makes me feel a lot better... if there is one thing I HATE it's being stranded... what makes this situation worse is today was my Girlfriend's BD, and we had all these plans to go to dinner and everything.. was going to be a great night.. and my car is barely driveable so we pretty much canceled it all and I feel bad

Today my dad and I popped the back of the car up and put it in gear and looked at the drivetrain.. The motor does shake quite a bit.. and that torque brace sounds like a great idea... I will order brace and new motor mounts after I put the tranny mount on.. and as I wait for cash to come in

Thank you!
