Bad engine? or just needs a kick in the ****?
OK guys here's the story. I bought an 89 gxl for 500 bucks. the kid said it wouldnt start. I suspected it was flooded. After going through the braking system, and fixing a clutch problem, I've concluded that the car has set for a Long period of time. Long enough for the Slave cylinder and Brake calipers to corrode and seize up on me. I can get the car started using the "3 step unflooding procedure" but it doesnt idle. if kept at around 2k it will run. it doesnt sound weird or anything. Since it has set for such a while, is the motor bad? or should I ATF it and Hope for the best? Thanks for your input.

try pulling the plugs and checking for 3 "WHOOSH'es" from each rotor -- if they're all there, then chances are the motor is OK and there is something else wrong. If not, then you might as well soak it in ATF for a few days (weeks?) and see what happens!
