back pressure?

now my 5-6 ports arn't workin because im not getting enough back pressure from my exhaust. So is it right to say that if i put in a pre-silencer it will give me enough back pressure to have them open?

No! Tried it myself and it did not work. They will not open until about 7k. This was with a RB header a RB presilencer and a custum single 2.5in exhaust.

You may be able to use actuators from a series 5 and put the airpump back on or use an electrical air pump.

If you have a header you will not notice any loss of low end power, you will probadly gain more lower end, with them wired open, if you have a good exhaust setup, and intake.

Mine are wired open and I have no problem smokin my tires in first without using the clutch, smokes second very nicely also...

well it is also streetported with only 2300km(about), so you think if i wire them open it will be ok? I mean like good low end power and good high end power? And if i wire them open will my car guzzle more gas than it already does?

it will work great on your car being its ported. Plently of lower end power...

Your mileage should also go up some.

I totally disagree. Wiring the 6-ports open will not give you "plenty of low end power" and will not improve your mileage. What proof do you have to support such a claim?

I have dyno sheets showing a 10-15 RWHP loss from idle to about 4500 RPM with the 6-ports wired open. This is on a fresh street ported engine with header and catback.

Nice car by the way how do you do that rpm switch? Do they open up at a sertan rpm?

i very much agree.i had originaly removed my aux. port sleeves when i rebuilt my motor.i ended up getting some pineapple sleves and re-installing them, and its a very big difference down low.it was sad before-if i stomped it on a gravel road,i could not break traction before![of course some of my other mods further hurt low-end,as well].i have my aux.ports hooked up to a tube that faces right into the exhaust port on my header, and they open at about 4-5k.works for now.

I saw your dyno sheet and that is pretty sad for a new S5 engine with SP and headers ETC... Your putting out less power than stock.

What times have you gotten on this setup?

Was the motor broken in fully at the time of dynoing?

Less power than stock? Are you serious? That's 166 RWHP from a Non Turbo. A stock S5 NA will only put down around 135 RWHP from the factory. (S5's came with 160 Flywheel HP) That's a 30HP gain over stock.

As for being a "sad" number with mods, you have to also remember that I'm still running emissions legal. (IE: Air pump, ACV, and a Catayltic Converter) As far as I know, no one on this list has accomplished 166 RWHP on an NA without removing the cat. (I may be wrong)

FYI: A stock S4 Turbo 2 only puts down around 150-160 RWHP. A stock S5 Turbo will get you around 170-175 RWHP.

The picture with the wires is showing the MSD Blaster coils. They are being powered by a single MSD 6A that is located in the nose. I'll eventually be installing a second MSD 6A...one for each coil.

The RPM switch is triggered by the output of the leading coil. It has dip switches that allow it to select the RPM at which it triggers.

GHLS doesn't seem to think so.

I'm sure I could see 180-185 RWHP just by removing the cat and putting a presilencer in.

Plus I cleared up my ignition breakup problem that I had on the upper end of those dyno pulls. The car is so much smoother now...I just wish this PA winter would be over so I could drive her again!!!

Samps: Do you think there will ever be a West PA + East PA meet? I pretty much go with the Tristate Club, but I know the club out in Pittsburg is pretty active.

I am not in any clubs right now. I can't seem to find the spare time to go and I hate to commit to something and not participate. I plan to take some beginner training this year and hit the track a few times. I also plan to do some autocross. I would be interested in a PA meet, but it always ends up being in Philly. I'm not sure where exactly your town is at, but if it is anywhere near the burgh, they just built a nice track in Elwood city called BeaveRun.

And anywhhere over 150rwhp on a NA is an accomplishment, even more so with a cat.

I'm kind of in the middle of nowhere... Right where I-80 and I-81 cross over. 1.5 hours from Philly, about 2.5 frmo Pittsburg.

You really should try and hook up with the West PA club. http://westpenn.rx-7.org/
Membership is free and by no means are you required to participate. Everything is casual and you go when you can.

I might try it out. I just have too many hobbies and not enough time to commit to any one of them. But if you're at the track and see a dark blue vert that seems to be driving in the wrong direction; that's probably me!
