is the BAC nessisary?

hi, i am working on a 87 TII and are getting a rtec 1.8 for it and i was wondering if the BAC was still nesisary, i would like to remove/block it off to try and give the engine bay as clean of a look as posible. thanxs

I'd say it is necessary to retain idle. It really depends. Have you done the TB mod? What else do you plan to remove/block off? I am not sure how the rtek handles idle/BAC, you might want to ask or search in the rtek section for more info. I run no rtek, and I have removed the BAC, and have performed the throttle body mod to remove a malfunctioning thermowax piston/ fast idler cam. If you remove the BAC, the idle will be more difficult to adjust, and personally I would not suggest it.

EDIT: the reason I mentioned the tb mod is because when cold, my car wants to stall if i do not 'blip' the idle. The BAC on the other hand helps control the idle under various loads and conditions.
