Question BaC maybe?? please help!!

cleaned out the bac with pb blaster like someone on the forumtold me . to possibly stop a high idle! well all that did was make it idle sooooo much higher!!! 3k is what im idling at ! and not likeing it. i try to mess with the idles screw and the lil alan wrench screw on the BAC but nothing no change in idle and not only is it idling that high but the idle fluctuates when that high. when i push in clutch and put into gear the idle drops to around 1200-1500 fluctuating still. but when out of gear goes back up to 3k. can n e one diagnose what the hell is up?
thanks
jack

Clean the TB.
Check the throttle cable for sticking.
Check AWS.
Finally, adjust the cam stop screws on the TB.

It would not be a dirty BAC unless it happened while turning the steering wheel (with p/s) or the a/c was on.

Take out the TB and wipe it down with a rag and soapy water.

AWS is accelerated warm up system.

If you take the electical plug off the bac, does the idle fall down to a reasonable 700-800 rpm? Or does it on the whole still idle way high. If it falls down to a low rpm, then replace the bac. If it does not fall down after pulling the plug, then do the usual....make sure there is slack in the throttle cable, cruise cable, that the fast idle cam is coming off the roll pin (see the manual, fuel section).

The 87 n/a does not have an adjustment on the bac like the turboii and later models(on the whole thats a true statement, some exceptions). A small screw on top of the dynamic chamber can make some difference, but not three grand difference. Also your car has no aws. Its called the air bypass solenoid on your model. It only activates during cold starting when the water temp is very low.

That said, from your description, it sounds like the rpms will fall way down when you remove the bac plug.

Jack you have a vaccum leak.

You never told me you had no second plates.

These things are important.

I would finish the TB mod completely, while doing this, I will check for a cracked vaccum line or one is off.

Also once you get the water rerouted, the intake will be alot cooler and will help make some extra power.

I wouldn't say he has a vacuum leak to be causing a high idle(maybe low idle), at least that I know of.

Oh BTW, what were you saying about some club on Friday?

It may be a vaccum leak, I had one and it acted exactly the same. Super high idle and erratic at times. It wasn't doing before, so I would assume a line came loose, or something.

Club 1320 is next Friday, not this Friday.

Its a all night racing club @ a track with no rules, and running pro tree.

We take the whole car club when we go down, and you are more than welcome to cruise with us, or meet us there.

We should have 3 or 4 RX7s going already. If you guys go, that will add that much more fun.

We do alot of freindly racing between cars in the club.

Right now, my buddy is trying to get his T2 to smoke my N/A, but he has got a ways to go.

What track is it? I only know of 2, one on Ulmerton in Largo which is 1/8 mile, and the one in Bradenton. I think I might go though since I am picking my car up today more than likely.

You will never kill the N/A. N/A owns you!

I will race ya, if you pull a spark plug.

I had my leak were I made my connection from the air meter to the new piping, that I fabricated to the throttle body. But the point is I have seen leaks before and yours seems to be a classic example. Chris's car the gray one had the exact situation and I found a large vaccum leak right next to the oil fill tube.
