It would take quite a few fills before you breached the 2K mark that a trubo swap would cost.....
I would agree, if it were really $2000 to turbocharge your car. Personally, I went with stock TII manifolds and turbo, with an FD fuel pump and a SAFC II for tuning. All in all I'm sitting at about $600-700. How many fills would it take to pass that mark, presuming that the way I drive, I'd be in boost daily? I'm really curious, but someone told me that with the way I drove I'd be refilling the bottle every 2 or 3 days.

I think its foolish to say its a waste to put Nitrous on a car w/ an automatic.
Automatics CAN be manually shifted if the owner doesnt like the shift points, & once the car is rolling its not too bad.

The REAL problem w/ running an auto, & using it manually is there a distinct 2-3 second lag between when YOU shift the car, & the tranny actually shifts. That, & its not as predictable as you might like. Meaning, sometimes it'll shift 2 seconds late, sometimes 3 seconds late. If you're running up to the redline, this CAN be bad. But, if you're listening to the buzzer, you're generally ok.

Not to mention, you can't just get up in the revs & dump the clutch. Sure having a manual is preferable, but still.

Man you people take things too seriously...

1: A turbo car has the power all the time - yes.
2: A "budget" turbo swap can't really be thrown into the comparison because like everything - there's always a cheaper way. 2K is an established LOW standard on a turbo swap of the engine itself with a few supporting mods.
3: A nitrous car doesn't run around (or at least I never did, nor did any of the rotary guys i know who use N20) using it everyday. You use it at the track, or for a race driving around, you don't juice it going onto the freeway - you'll learn that after a fill up.

Finally - the OP isn't asking "which is better". He's asking - CAN MY CAR RUN NITROUS.

OF FREAKING COURSE IT CAN and it can do it as reliably as you can turbocharge you car.

Oh yeah, no doubt. From a reliability standpoint, if your car can handle the boost, it can handle the nitrous, as long as you follow the same rules. Don't lean the car out under boost or bottle and you'll be fine, the car doesn't know the difference.

But me, I'd juice it going onto the freeway. And on highways. And from a redlight/stop sign/yield sign. Maybe not in a supermarket parking lot . . . but if it was closed and there was noone there. . .
Bottle just doesn't make sense for me. I get my fun daily, not just once a week/month.

let's say you drive this car every day, which is what the OP wants to do, and you want to use your extra power a few times a day, which the OP also wants to do. that said, you'd probably be replacing bottles about once every week, right (I'm not exactly sure how long it'd take to drain a bottle, but probably not long). so say it costs $100 to fill it. ~52 weeks in a year, so $5200 PER YEAR just to fill the damned thing in order to use it that frequently. EVEN IF you use half as much, that puts you at $2600 per year. I'd most DEFINITELY say a turbo is a much better option than nitrous in this situation. and then of course we still have the issue of it being an automatic...
It would cost, at most, $45 to fill it...

If you're responsible, you don't spray everywhere you go. I've had a bottle last about a month, month and a half, daily driven...including a visit to the strip.

Nitrous is the best bang for the buck in a short/medium time span. You can't really debate that. It's less stressful on the engine because it's N/A when it's not juiced (obviously). If used carefully and correctly, it's perfectly safe.

Plus, every time I hit that button, it's like HOLY SHITTTTT!!!!

Is it really a HOLYYYYYY SHIIIITTTT moment every time you hit the gas? lol

Probably at least 3 times a day, yeah. Worse on weeks leading up to autocross, when I cut the air off and practice launches at every red light so that I get comfortable with where the tires break loose and practice keeping it just underneath that.

from my experience with juice, you'd be filling up more than once a week with a 10lb bottle, i believe. at least, i know i would, because i'd be wanting to open the bottle up at every light and every time i saw some civic/integra around....juice helps aid the indigestion process after i eat some rice ;D
