I use a 70A welder, but an arc welder is really the wrong kind to be using for exhaust. It can be done, but takes a LOT of practice and a very steady hand to avoid blowing a hole in the tubing. The best type of welder to use a is a wire feed gas welder (mig). They can be rented at most rental stores, and are significantly easier to use than arc units.

I have just a wire feed welder, its a small TSC model, but can this be used to weld exhaust pipe? also can exhaust pipe be brazed? Will a brazed seem be to weak to handle the exhaust heat? These are my only free ways of welding exhaust pipe and I am to cheap to rent a mig welder. Thanks for the help
