Are you guys talking about ARC TMIC? I just bought one from a member here for a good price. Up to what power level is it good for?? I was kinda curious how good it really was. I did a search for it and then came up with lots of info, but couldn't find the exact info I wanted. I just wanna know at what psi/hp level I need to keep my car at in order to be safe.

tmic and fmic are all good but of course fmic is the best one they also have the newer v-mount setups which give you the best of radiator and intercooler cooling

three row intercoolers require great amount of forced air what good is it if only the first two row get tthe proper air
the scoop on the fc is not big enough and i haven't seen an aftermarket hood with a design good enough to force the correct amount trough three rows the fmic is fully exposed air can be easyly forced into three rows of cooling

Or is it all just speculation because nobody's ever tried one out and tested it with intake charge temps?

Ok, getting a little off topic now, but why didn't mazda go with a non tmic setup in the first place? Not neccessarily a front mount, but maybe a set up like the FD has? Just curious.

Mazda's reasons were most likely to do with cost and simplicity. That still doesn't make it a good location. Even mounting the stock IC out front is a good improvement. The core flows well, it just suffers terribly from heat-soak.

So is it a bad idea to tune my car to 14-15psi with the ARC TMIC? I have an upgraded turbo but I don't know the spec of it. It made 285rwhp at 10psi. Should I just tune it to around 12psi?

Go with a proper FMIC setup. Find a cheap used intercooler on ebay(volvo etc), greddy universal fmic piping kit(http://www.turboimports.com/gredun50inpi.html), and higgi's adapter.

could put the ARC in a front mount position...i've seen what you're talking about, i think you could make it work.
although for the trouble, a volvo or saab or npr would work better.

Now there's a break in the traffic or the light turns green and you floor it, and that 14-15psi creates super-hot air that is barely being cooled by the IC. The result is a lot less power and much greater chance of detonation.
