Question Apexi : GT Spec cat-back system

GT SPEC MUFFLER
The Ultimate Exhaust - Form and Function
High-end power, includes silencer

"GT Spec Mufflers are our flagship line of exhaust systems. These race-bred exhaust systems were engineered to handle extremely high-horsepower applications. A'PEX is the only company in Japan to own and operate a 95mm (3.74 inch) mandrel pipe bender at this time. We proudly incorporate this 95mm piping on select applications to offer exhaust systems unmatched by any other manufacturer. Pipes for the GT Series are designed with minimal amount of bends and the canisters project at an angle like the N-1. The GT Series pipes and canisters are constructed of polished SUS 304 stainless steel. The 115mm polished tip give the GT Spec Mufflers an aggressive, yet refined style. All GT Spec Mufflers include the Super Silencer, which can reduce noise levels by up to 7 decibels." (www.apexi-usa.com/exhausts_gtspec.asp)

What do you guys think about the Apexi : GT Spec cat-back exhaust system? Anyone have one? I've noticed that most people go with the N1, why is that?

Thanks,
Isaac

Hey Isaac,

This is Dan. Since we live within two hours of corksport I would have to say that for us the best buy would be to go with their catback. it's only $300 and the only downside to it is the driver side exit, otherwise I would see no benefits to the apex over the corksport. You might have seen some pics of it on the forum it looks like it is pretty good quality. Go buy one so I can check it out in person.

I just ordered the GT exhaust. The piping is fairly large and apexi is good quality. I also wanted to keep the noise down.

Hey Dan,
You missed the meet on Saturday, it went pretty well.

I've been considering buying the Corksport exhaust for quite some time and the price is the only thing that has kept my interest. I've heard that the quality of the system is questionable and that they are on backorder for the next couple of months. I plan to email Corksport soon to find out a little more information about the exhaust. There website is less than helpful!
The driver's side exit is a little weird at first but actually provides the fewest number of bends for the exhaust gas route, or so I've been told. The Apexi system is leaps and bounds above the Corksport in terms of design and quality, but is it worth the price? I'm still not sold on it.

Im pretty sure the GT spec isnt gonna keep the noise down.....with that size and minimal bends, its gonna be loud...on the RX7.com website it says that this exhaust isnt for people who are trying to keep noise levels down

Are there two different versions of the GT exhaust because mine is a passenger side exit. When I was Looking into buying it , I thought it was drivers all the pictures I saw showed that, but when I got it it was passenger. And yes I am sure it is the ApexI GT Spec.

Here is a link to some pics.

There is only 1 version of the GT spec, the one you have that exits on the passenger side is the cheaper N1 version.

Mother ******. I think you are right. I ordered the GT but i think I got the N1. They screwed up my order. It took them forever to ship the god damn thing so that is probably where they screwed it up. That could one reason why I didn't get the included silencer. I even have reason to believe that they charged me the extra $100 also. That was about 6 months ago that I bought that, I doubt I have a reciept. But if anybody is intrersted I bought it from rxecret7.com. Guess who is pissed?

that really sucks.. i'd be looking for a reciept. I keep all my reciepts in a file just so I know i have them all.

is your piping like a purplish color like it's been coated or is it the same as mine all stainless and shiny?

Its purple. When 88fc3sw/HX83 said what he thought I had, I was like "no" and started looking for picture proof. When I bought it all of the pics where the same. So now I go back and look and the site has been updated and I see the pic of the GT then I look at the pic of the N1 and son of a bitch he is right and I am pissed

Don't get me wrong I am happy with the exhaust. It is the money issue, which i don't even really care about now. If I was to get the GT I would have to remodify my rear end. I have the drivers side exit blocked off .
