Anything I can use to patch a hole in my exhaust system?
I know rotories run alot hotter than a "normal" motor's exhaust sytem, so I was wondering if anyone has had any luck patching a couple of small holes with anything? I have 2 or 3 small holes right in the Y pipe area of my Stock TII system ... I have a full RB Turbo back system ready to put on .. but I have to smog this thing with the stock pipes on .. I am afraid they will fail me right off with this small leak. I just need it to hold up for about a full day ... anyone have any idea's I would replace the Y pipe if I was keeping this system ... but it is comming off right away so I just need a temp. **** rig.
Thx for the idea's

I think JB will melt. Not sure.. but they will not pass you with a leak. I guess maybe it wont give the sniffer a ccurate reading it some is escaping in other locations?? tht and the car does not run in top shape with a leak .. thats a given.

I would weld it in a heartbeat if I had a welder .. or knew **** about welding. I will pay to get it welded if thats the only solution, but I hate to pay to get it fixed if I am just going to scrap them right afterwords. Noone knows of a exsaust Bondo type item? or a real high temp JB weld kind of thing I might try to locate??

normal JB Weld is good up to 500°F, and there's a disclaimer at the bottom reading
"Not recommended for use on manifolds, exhaust systems, and other engine components which normally operate at temperatures above 500º F. "
Just thought I'd let you know that, but I'm still looking for something too since I think my exhaust is also developing a small leak. Damn RBs...

Let me know if you find anything .. I am going to stop by autozone on my way home tonight .. see if that have anything on the shelf that looks like it might work. Only problem is rotary exhaust runs even hotter than a piston car.

if it sin the y-pipe couldn't you take a heavy duty can of some sort and wrap it around the pipe? Then use a high temp weld to hold it in place? I've seen this method used for pissed on engines?

That's kind of high priced, but if you think you might use it often, it's good to 1000°F

the only type of "cold weld" or JB weld that can withstand the high temp or a rotory is called -- BELZONA 2112-- ... if you can find it , its rather costly at about $150 per mixed oz. but it will hold up better and outlast the rest of the metal in the exhaust... but if time is a concern, get it weldded...cheaper and easier in the long run...since your just going to scrap it anyway...
