anyone use mobil 1 10w-40 4 cycle oil?

saw some at kragen and i thought it might be good to try since it had the correct weight and temp rating with the benefit that it would probably burn cleaner than normal dino/synthetic oil since it was for 4 cycle engines.

any thoughts on this?

Mobil One

There is stilll an ongoing argument about the use of synthetics in your rotary engine. The problem revolves around the injection of the oil into the combustion chamber for lubricating the apex seals. No one knows for sure how the synthetics burn.

Personally, I am an ardent believer in synthetics, particularly Mobil 1. It has vastly superior lubricity traits over conventional dino juice.

My rex uses Mobil 1 in the oil pan and along with an adapter on the OMP and external reservoir, is using Evinrude two-stroke oil through the OMP. So far so good here. The only problem I encountered with this setup is the fact that that with the oil reservoir being higher than the egine, the oil will drain into the manifold throught the OMP. This was cured by the use of a vacuum operated valve to shut the flow of oil to the OMP off when the engine is not running. I used a purge valve intended for a Chevy V8 emission control. I am still wary of the dependability of the purge valve, so I am looking for an electrically operated valve to replace it.

Uh, 4 cycle oil? Isn't that just regular oil? Are you perhaps talking about 2 cycle oil?

on the bottle it said "4 cycle oil for motorcycles", so i thought it might have similar clean burning properties of 2 cycle oil.

just read the faq on mobil 1's website regarding some of the differences between motorcycle oil and car oil (http://www.mobil1.com/motorcycle/index.jsp)

they mention that motorcycle oil (mx4t in particular) has higher levels of phosphorus which can be bad for the cats.

i also spoke with a friend of mine who has a bike and it appears that the 4 stroke bikes don't inject oil into the combustion chamber, only the 2 stroke ones.

so it would seem that the 4 stroke oil isn't what i was looking for.
