WA Anyone Running 195/65/r15's on their FC?

This may be a stupid Question. But i need tires and i have Brand new 195/65/r15's with 100% tread and the little rubber poky things still hanging off.

I have the Gxl and it currently has the 205/60/r15's. With the belt showing. Would it be an issue at all running the 195/65/r15's..

Cornering issues or handling issues?

And has anyone ran 195/65/r15's in place of the 205's ?

The reason i ask is im about to put them on this morning. And i know they are taller and the tires are Slightly thinner.. but i dont know bye how much..
and i dont want to take the trouble to put them on if its not an option... thanks

I'll bet you won't even notice the difference.
Well, except for actually having tread...that you will be able to feel.

Skinnier tire is probably better in snow anyway.

is 195 stand for Milimeters? 60/65 is that like 5 Milimeter difference? or is it bigger than that?

The tread width- in your case 195- is millimeters.
The second figure is sidewall height and is expressed as a ratio of the width.

So, a 195/65 tire has a width of 195 mm and a height 65% of that so, 126.75 mm tall sidewall.
Your old 205/60 had a sidewall height of 123mm.
Your basic, old school balloon tire.

If I am not mistaken, the first number is how wide the tire is in millimeters. The second number is the "aspect ratio," which is the how tall the sidewall is, that number is based on the percentage of how wide the tire is.

so for a 195/60/r15 the 60 means that the sidewall height is %60 percent of 195mm while 60 would be %65.

and the r stand for radial, the 15 for the wheel size in inches

Edit: Beat me to it lol

Ok thanks guys.. Do you think that the 195/65/r15 are ok for the rx7?
as the other guy said i should not notice any type of proformance difference.. and i would have tread. But 195 VS the 205 milli meters is hardly even Noticable by eye when its on a car anyways right??

I have 195-65R15 Hankook Optimos on the front of my GXL. Found em in the dumpster with loads of tread on them, so I decided to mount them for $10...

Aside from sucking at Autocross this summer, they're great in the snow.

SWEET... i need to find a tire dump more often and see what they got... And resell some used tires on Ebay.. make a killin.. :P Hey thats my idea btw..

Ok i guess ill put the 195's on.. Im sure ill need good grip here soon.. with this damn seattle weather... But i just wont take her to the track anytime soon :P Not that the 205's are any better for racing.. Cause i can tell you they sucked at that too..

195-65-r15s Sure ride smooth, sorta miss the feedback i had with the slicks... Owell. real tread is great in the rain.. but damn those 205's did spoil me.. Now i feel like a normal car..

The 195-65R15's help me out in two ways:

1.) Winter and rain... Narrower tire puts more weight in a smaller area. Cuts through rain and snow better.
2.) I have 350+lb springs and shocks set to full stiff. It rides rough as ****. The slightly taller tire absorbs a bit of the bumps in the road... (I do need to get some info on my suspension setup... Anyone know anything about Ohlins?)

In the summer, it gets 16" Mustang wheels and DOT R compounds.

I know they make great, very pricey, top of the line stuff for bikes.
All our TZs had Ohlins.

I also went from 205-60-r15s at 50 PSI with NO tread remember, basicly slicks to 195-65-r15s (Looks better from the side of the car takes up all of the wheel well)
at 32 psi from the tire shop with tons of tread also... The good is what you pointed out. It Cuts the water like knife through butter. For the first time i see the tire Shooting water to the side of my car in a tread pattern.. really nice and hell i even have a rooster tail like the boats doo...

Every time my tread runs low my car handles better ( DRY ROAD). Each and every time i get new tires the car wont do what it used to till the tread runs down. and then it handles like a Ferarri..

Wish i could afford Tires with tread that do that brand new. If they make them..

They're called R-Compounds. **** in the wet, but ******* awesome on dry pavement.

Pick up a set of Mustang GT wheels and some 225-50R16s.
