I would stay away - the guy either doesn't know what he's talking about or is not honest about what he's selling.

1. The N327 ECU quoted in the ad is for an 88 NA, it will not work for turbo's - they are N332 or N333 for 87-88s.
2. There are no speed limiters to remove on RX7 ECUs.
3. The guts between the 87-88 and 89-91 ECUs are not the same. In the 87-88's there are two EPROMs, in the 89-91's there is only one yet the ad claims works for all years.
4. I'de like to see anybody install a chip in 10-20 minutes. You have to pull the ECU, open it up, un-solder the existing chip (not easy for first timers), solder in the new one and install again. You'll also need a good quality solder iron so as to not damage the board.
5. You also don't know what your getting. Notice no brand name mentioned - what's the chip tuned for?

all the above points are valid, but look at the feedback!
plus, it's $15.
How much is a haltech again? $1000?

If I read the auction description correctly, all you're getting is the chip.&nbsp These EPROM chips are like easily $5/each in bulk.&nbsp What are you getting for your NA?&nbsp A high rev limiter than can potential break your engine?&nbsp Wow, that's a bargain...

All those folks with the fancy NA ECU reprogram - I still haven't heard those dyno run confirmations yet.&nbsp I'm still waiting...

he says it's for the turbo, though.
I don't care about the rev limiter, (don't make any power up there anyways, why would you wanna be up there?), but I want to know if it will up my HP like he says it does...
seems to me that he doesn't really know what he's talking about.

The auction description says it's for a turbo and for a "N327" ECU, which is a 1988(?) NA ECU.&nbsp In my book, that means to stay away.

Judging at the low price, I think the seller got his hands on a modded ECU, popped the EPROM out, and had the resources to copy and burn unto duplicate chips.&nbsp This is piracy at it's finest.&nbsp There is no R&D involves except for mass diplication.&nbsp I have a big problem with "scams" like this.&nbsp I paid good money for my RPM/Autothority and G-Force ECU's.&nbsp I have had many people approach me to copy my modded chip - I've "politely" declined their invitations even after being solicited with serious amounts of money.&nbsp I find this practice unethical and disgusting, period.

We need to support the vendors who do go through the R&D to develop products for our vehicles.&nbsp If you're going to get cheap and look for alternative methods such as this, you're inevitably shooting yourself in the foot.&nbsp REAL businesses cannot compete with mass duplicating scams like this, and they all will eventually go develop products for some other industry due to not being able to make a profit cause of major undercutting of value of these products.

Sorry for the rant - this kinda stuff leaves a bad taste in my mouth...

I agree with Ted. Do not buy this. He will prolly be selling another one next month on there as well.

Actually I am curious about the no speed cut, I guess the stateside version is different but all Japanese RX-7's have speed cut at 180Km/H in stock form. Hell every car has some sort of speed cut in stock form over here.

Interesting how they manufacture different things for different countries.
