I always see that picture being thrown around like it's the gospel. I mean, it does show the airflow for an N/A FC, but I can't believe that the airflow would look just like that on a TII hood.

Well yeah, some air gets in there, not an impressive amount, I was just saying that the change in shape of the hood would alter the airflow. You'd just have to make a new chart.

I like the scoot style hood less the ram air in the front. That makes its reverse slits usless and the whole reason you get these hoods is to stop overheating with a Front Mount. Not because it looks cool on a NA in pepboys parking lot.

...and then there's Not Exactly

Or is this going to be the same thing only copying someone else's design. Sorry for being so blatent but I watched the design process of the last one, and couldn't help myself, that design was for a 3rd gen, not a 2nd gen, the front of the cars, brackets, radiator, supports etc are completely different. Just taking a scoop from a 3rd gen and putting it on a 2nd gen doesn't constitute garunteed better air flow. I wouldn't buy anything that was supposed to better cool my car based on aerodynamics when it has been taken from a completely different body styled car and made to fit mine, the slope of the hood is completely different which makes the air flowing over it react completely different. I wouldn't buy it unless you put it in a wind tunnel and tested it. Hence why I am putting my designs through a wind tunnel before I finish them.

I'm thinking we have other thinkers, good. But what I was thinking a moment before, is how close the exit vents are to the car nose. The more forward, the higher the pressure. Yes, the hood is lower pressure than the bumper, but I'd rather have the vents closer to the windscreen. I also would not want any raised portions just for local vacuum gains, because this early in the airstream, gains are punished by turbulence over the body. The best practical venting is amid the fender behind the wheel. We keep the frontal profile low, with splitting and venting to the sides.

The main reason vents are placed near the front of the car, is to vent the incoming air from the radiator, so that that heat will not build up in the engine. But there have been ideas where the back of the hood is raised up to suck air out the back.
