anyone Install an Optima on it's SIDE?
I may not have enough room in the Bin to put my Optima Battery in with the Posts UP(I have 6x9's in the Bin lids for my Stereo)..I would like to put the Battery on it's Side..so Yellow on it's side..Post on the Side, instead of UP..Seeing this is a Spiral cell battery, and isn't supposed to leak,.I am thinking it is OK,but I want to confirm this..Anyone else Done this?.Thanks Guys.Dave/STYX.

If you overtighten the posts, or tweak the posts, then it will leak.
So if you are mounting on the side (which I have done countless times) any wire movement or battery movement without wire movement will result in the post seal being damaged and will eventually leak.
Also overcharging them will result in them leaking usually around the vent.

battery relocation
this is how my battery is run. i tig welded a box to fit the compartment. unfortunately since the floor is curved i had to make a shallow box, which forced me to mount the battery sideways. it just makes it. i am thinking of redoing the battery box as i am not too thrilled with it.

Thanks Pistones.I actually Got the Battery and wiring In NO Problem...well after about Six Pain killers!.heh..But I snaked the wiring under the car, wrapped in Black Duct tape and used Nylon Pipe holders and self tapping screws.I put the Wiring against the Inner Passenger frame rail and ran it under the heat shield, across the Engine Cross member and UP to the old Location.I used some Ingenuity and connected the wires to each other with Side Battery terminals. One to the Frame and the other I had a protective sleeve and lots of Tape!..the wires Go into the Bin Via the Rubber grommets on the floor.they also are used to protect the wire from hitting the floor and hold the wires to the car.I placed my Tray down with 4 Carriage bolts(1/4 inch about an inch and a half).that secured it VERY well..after that was done,I Tossed the battery in and connected it..Voila!..Battery relocation,a la STYX!~..sort of looks like yours/But MY battery is Yellow topped...and it stands Upright!..LOL!
