anyone have a SC'd FC?
i've been looking into it a lil bit , i dont really have the money for an engine swap right now , and i share my pickup with my sister. so i'm thinking if i just get my NA rebuilt and get the supercharger later things would work out more cost efficiently for me. i'm not looking for the ultimate drag car or a type R killer , i have to drive the car to and from school but i want something that will be more fun to drive thru the city and the occasional race. i think about 200 hp would be good enough for me. what superchargers would you recommend? if you recommend one at all. also does anyone have one ? what's been your experience with it?

I might be alittle off, but I think with a rebuild you can get the motor ported a little and then some bolt on mods, and get close to 200hp....although I could be wrong...might be an even more cost effective solution, since your current solution already included a rebuild.

Rebuild + supercharger > engine swapp...financially that is it should be at least.
You can swap a jspec engine/tranny/rear end in for like what, $1500? The supercharger is more than that. Then the rebuild is around $2000 if done by someone else, or $800 or so done by yourself.

If getting your car back on the road ASAP is the most important thing then you have to consider the SC to be the least cost effective route. Use the search function to find threads on the SC articles, there is at least one regular member that has his done this way and he loves it, sorry I cannot remember his ID. Superchargedrex?
Depending on the attachment you have for your car and the amount it would take just to get it running again the TII route is more cost effective.
Having said all of that, I have a N/A that was just rebuilt, mine is a 1991 so it begins at about 160hp, I'm adding a cold air box and complete exhaust system, this should give the kick I need (not necessarily 200hp) but peppy enough to get me by. Claims vary on what these mods will yield, some say not much at all, I won't say what the header manufacturer claims (because that would insight a riot ) but these are easy mods that do not affect reliabilty or drivability so they get top marks in my books
You can have whatever you want, it's just that more costs MORE!

Last time I checked, an FC kit is more like $4k...
That Camden Sc kit from Atkins(?) convert the stock EFI to carb - not what I call an "upgrade".
I don't see the superiority of the SC, as the dyno charts I've seen does not show the superiority of the low end, as many people assumed.
The Turbo II is such a better platform to deal with, and at that price, it's a cheaper option.
