Anyone have a "hidden" radio antenna?
My OEM antenna goes up but doesn't go down on it's own, is unsightly when in use, and doesn't generally get reception as good as other cars' antennas I've been in. So, I'm thinking about getting a "hidden" antenna for my radio in my FC. Like so:

I was thinking of putting it on the back hatch like the RX-8 and other cars out there today. Has anyone got any experience with these? Do they get good reception (better than OEM)?
I was looking at the FSM and it looks like I'd have to get a coaxial extension cable to get it from the back of the car to the radio. Unless there is someway I can wire the coaxial cable into the stock wiring harness. BTW, the black painted portion of the back hatch would perform just as well as on the clear glass, right?

My windshield has one in it, and I had to make a plug for it. When I get money, it'll get better reception, but until then, it's okay. I think some FCs came with the antenna in the windshield, it's even in the FSM.
Check the glass for two little wires, first.

I have one in the glass(windshield) and one in the back... and 2 connectors behind the radio...one male and one female. How do I use them both... do they make a connector that brings the 2 into one for an aftermarket headunit?

the one in the glass is called a diversity antenna (i believe), its used on the factory radio to supplement the normal one. However you can choose to use whichever one you prefer. Most aftermarket radios only have a pluf for one, and usually a female plug, so for the most part people use the one in the back. Crutchfield has different adapters that will allow you to use either both or if you'd like just the front one. Thats what i did. I filled in the hole in the spoiler, and bought an adapter that had two male ends so that i could plug the diversity antenna into my aftermarket radio. No need to buy one of those hidden antennas.

What did you run? That would be a great solution.
