Anyone ever remove a front subframe?

How difficult is it to remove a front subframe? I want to get some things cleaned down there and repaint the front subframe too while I'm at it (will have the engine out too.)

From looking at the bottom, I'm not exactly sure how it comes off. Is it as simple as remove steering rack, control arms, tie rods, and then just unbolting it off?

I believe the whole front subframe can be dropped after unbolting from the body. Naturally you'll need to disconnect all components eg brake lines, steering, stabilizer, struts. Years ago I did a lot of work on the F body GM cars as a hobby, you undo 4 bolts and the body can be lifted off the frame, once again after removing the components and radiator support.

I believe there are 4 nuts that hold the engine cradle into the subframe.
Once you remove those, it's should drop down.

Now, keep in mind, you're removing the steering rack, and this is going to require an alignment.

Cools, doesn't seem too difficult now. Yeah, I'll get an alignment right after.

Thanks!
