Anyone Else Feel Unwelcome Here Anymore?

This forum has become very unwelcoming. Most threads have become flame wars. People try to help each other, and get flamed b/c their answer is not correct. What is that? We are a community. We have online friends here from across the world! We all strive to help each other out, but in the process are told we are morons, are stupid, and should no longer post. I turn every wrench on my own car, for better or worse. We have all been newbies, none amoung us was born with a rotor in our hand, so I beleive that we should not act like it. I truly hope that a moderator does not move this, as I feel all should read this thread. It is getting so bad around here, I feel like it might be time to leave.

Relax a little Rico. The words people use can only hurt you if you let them. We used to have a saying, sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me. It's still true if you decide to make it that way. This is an impersonal medium and it's up to you to treat it that way. Why do people go off the way they do? I don't know, but I'd guess it's because they feel safe doing so in this environment. Just ignore them and don't be so sensitive.

I heard a good idea the other day. "We don't need sensitivity training. People are way too sensitive already. We need insensitivity training." Try it, you'll like it.

Ok, so i am sensitive. But I am not merely speaking on my behalf. I llok at other forums, and they seen much more friendly. I do my best to help, as do many of us. I will personally no longer respond to as many threads, even if I have the answer. Time to cut back around here I guess.

Yeah, I agree that it is getting kinda bad with the HUGE amount of posts and the fact that most of them are turning out to be flame wars.

But you said it, "we have all been newbies" and as such us newbies rely on the help of people like you. Without you guys, the knowledge of rotary will not be passed on. Perhaps it isn't said enough, but I would like to offer a sincere Thank you to all you guys that have served us newbies and assisted us through any and all problems that we've had.

The only thing this forum needs is a touch more respect (there's another thread like this on here today) and a whole lot less flaming. If everyone could just respect another person's opinion or politely correct their errors, it wouldn't be bad.

Don't give up on the forum yet. When summer hits all the bitchs will leave to go roll the beachs and just us 7 lovers will be left. Until then, try not to get too discouraged.

I don't think the flaming has been that bad recently. If someone posts something that's just plain wrong, they should be told that. There's enough misinformation around without letting more in.
Pointing out someone's mistakes isn't flaming. Calling someone dumb because they made a dumb mistake and should've kept quiet isn't flaming (just attach a smiley). Suggesting someone go read a book because they need some basic knowledge isn't flaming. Calling someone gay because you don't like their answer is flaming. Using insulting, degrading names beacuse you've been shown the limitations of your knowledge is flaming.
Some people need to learn to keep their emotions in check, others need to learn how to take being corrected when they're wrong. I say keep up the healthy debate, leave the attitudes behind.

Im in on the whole respect thing too, I have only been regestered for a month or so but I have been here before. The only things that really make me mad is someone calling a persons car 'rice' just because they did some non-performance mods to it that they like, rember its not your car. and people making fun of or flameing at someone who posted a wrong answer. I have done all my mods so far and plan on doing almost if not all my mods.

Maybe there is just too much DIVERSITY in this crowd, and not enough open mindedness.

You get your bad apples, and you get your good apples.&nbsp I've seen worst - I've seen better.&nbsp This place is about "average" in terms of postings/hostilities.

If you're getting hurt by some of the things people say, you're taking this WAY too seriously.

Also, try to avoid asking TOO MANY (which I think you do) and "newbie" type of questions - USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION in here.

I think there is some people on this BOARD who love picking fights and love flaming! They get a kick out of it, but are ruining it for the REST of us. So please, try to keep everything FRIENDLY here guys...we are an RX7 BROTHERHOOD and so why can't we just all get along?!

YOU SUCK!

Just kidding

Flame wars are the sport of the emotionally retarded.

Just keep that in mind & it's easier to ignore them.

99% of the people on the board are just nice, everyday folks that happen to love RX-7's. Don't let the other 1% ruin everything for you.
