The Japanese call it touge. Yes that is true. But generally the only people in the US that call it touge are teenage wanna-be's that think everything JDM is hot ****. I have no mountain roads anywhere close to me, but I have the next best thing - back roads and rural highways, and they are tons of fun. I don't, however, call it whatever the Japanese call it just because thats what all of the other mad tyte JDM people say. It is a pretty safe estimate that anyone that wants to do "touge runs" or put JDM stuff on just because it is JDM is under 21. This isn't biased, just an objective observation.
Also, he wasn't "rediculed" for wanting to do what no one else has done. He was rediculed for using JDM fanboy terminology. It also didn't help that this topic has been covered many times before, including in the FAQ.

For the cost(maybe a little more) of doing a renesis swap you could do an NA 20b swap. It would be easier to obtain since there is almost always one on ebay and in the end it will produce more HP and more Torque than the renesis could ever dream of producing! Sure the Renesis swap would be unique, but the payoff is just not there. Personally if I were into drifting and wanted good NA power an NA 20b is what I would do.

Yes, but an NA 20b would be way more unique. And I think your post is probably the best one yet - if you have the time and money to swap in a renesis, just do an NA 3-rotor.

Hey, I was driving the mountain roads and "drifting" (we called it sliding) back in the early 80's to mid-90's outside San Diego... you mean all this time I should have been calling it touge... even though we were doing it back before the AE86 and FC were even made??? I guess white teens and 20 somthings back then are not as cool as Anime charactors in Japanese cartoons... either that or maybe the Japanese kids heard about us and tried it then.

Anyway, unless anyone has something constructive to add to this thread such as problems they encountered installing a Reni in a FC, then this thread is done and closed. If the originator or someone that has indeed installed a Reni would like it re-opened, they can provide a good reason to any 2nd gen moderator through a PM.
