I saw a thread in the 3rd gen forum about it... it seemed like a pretty good debate.

There is no debate.

Use it.

Running at zero pressure is one of the biggest adavantages of using it. Less water pump cavitation, eliminates hotspots even at zero pressure, higher boiling point, eco-friendly...........

The only negatives are price and availabilty.

RX-Hev,

So..being at zero pressure..I just use 2 blank radiator caps?

You can either remove the o-ring or the spring in the cap for zero pressure, depending on the cap and coolant system.
I removed the spring from the cap since i think coolant could seep out between the cap and radiator and you don't want to get this stuff everywhere.

Basically you want the overflow nipple unblocked at all times so the coolant is free to flow back and forth no matter how hot/cold/pressurized the system is.

btw, I have one more negative about Evans.
The stuff is nasty feeling, very similiar to brake fluid. However, it rinses clean with water.

I'm using it and am extremely pleased. I bought a cheap rad cap from Napa and removed the inner seal that seats below the overflow outlet. You want to leave the upper seal, so that the coolant can expand and contract into the overlow tank but cannot leak out the cap.

You need to make sure your cooling system is in good shape. Evans coolant won't cure cooling troubles caused by system problems.

Good Luck!

Eww, don't want people spilling that on the track. Regular coolant is slippery enought as it is.

Here is a tip. Completely drain your existing water/antifreeze coolant (Don't let you dog or cat drink it. It tastses really sweet and a very small amount is lethal). Drain the block, too.

Flush your system and clean it with a presone flush or the equivelent. Drain again.

Replace the drain plugs and add 2 gallons of Peak antifreeze or Prestone No-Tox staight into the rad, NO WATER. Run the car to full operation temperature, run the heater till it's completely hot. Then, let the car cool and drain the No-Tox. Then add teh Evans NPG+. This removes as much water from the system as possible. If you don't take this step, the residual water will give you some initial problems with boiling till the water is completely steamed off from the system.

Good Luck!

FYI Evans will NOT cool better then water or 50/50 blend. What it CAN do is cool at zero pressure, and it will not boil till 260 or something to that effect, so you can in essence, run your engine hotter then you normally would with regular coolant.
