Any interest in a custom HID headlight for the FC?
My friend and I have a side business fitting projectors from luxury cars into vehicles that don't come with HID from the factory. We do this so that the light ouput is just as good as say an M3 or S2000, because we end up using the exact same components from these or similar cars. The end result is no glare and an even distribution of light on the road. When I had an FC a year ago we used it to test it out the retrofit but the projectors available were just too long to clear the rear. This meant that the headlights weren't able to retract down once they were up. I sold the car shortly afterwards so we didn't pursue it after we encountered that stumbling block.
I just bought an FC and there are now smaller projectors on the market, so we're going to try new ways of mounting them in the FC headlight to see if it can work. Is there any interest in this kind of thing? We've done this for FDs already but it is just too much work for very little money so we stopped doing them. But the FC headlights are easier to work with and we can buy the housings and make them in advance--no need to send in your OEMs like what is the case with the FD.
Anyways, here's a pic of the retrofit we did last year:
It didn't have enough clearance so the only way it would work is if the headlights were up ALL the time. I'm going to try it on my car first, but if it is successful would there be interest in this product? The price with parts and labor will be competitive with the Philips 6000K HID kits out there today.

I would be highly interested. I'm looking for HIDs and I want to keep the pop-ups. I intend to run H3 Halogens for the fogs and would love HIDs for all the mountain driving/racing I do. If you can get them to fit with the lights down, I'm all over this.

I've yet to see an HID conversion that retains proper high beams. Unless they're adjusted incorrectly (i.e. too high), no low-beam HID has a range of a good high beam, simply because they're supposed to be aimed downwards.

The lights I am offering are not meant to take the place of a high beam. Basically, this is a much more functional alternative to aftermarket HID kits that are so popular these days.

I'm going to try to use the projectors from an Audi. The color they give off when modified is crazy.
And of course, the cutoff is nice and sharp.

You'd have a monopoly if you could do it right. Other then KnightSports (Japan) there's not a headlight kit available for the FC that's worth a damm. I've always been interested in low profile dual beam pop kit. I'd be interested in what you bring to the plate. I've always wondered how the early NSX headlights might fit the FC. I believe they're a serperate dual beam and they are a lower profile. I'm just not sure about depth and width.

H.I.D. kits from companies like Matrix (crap maybe?) are generally like $500..... if these cost around there.. preferablly less : ) then i'd be interested.
Oh and they deffinetly need to be able to go up/down. (i have sleepy eyes and i dont want to part with them lol)

This is completely different from a simple HID kit. You've all seen S2000s and M3s with HID from the factory... Well, what I'm going to be doing is using similar projectors (factory parts) and integrating them into the FC headlight. So if you are wondering about the light output, just look at those vehicles.
Here's another example:
This is my Civic with Audi projectors mounted inside my factory headlights. I don't have glare and the light is spread evenly on the ground. If I pull up next to an S4, we're going to be throwing out the same amount of light on the ground; from afar, both of our lights are going to look nearly identical in the rear view mirror of the driver ahead of us at night.
If you are going to get HIDs I'm convinced that this is the best way to go. Like I said earlier, we're going to make this priced competitively with HID kits on the market. But performancewise, the two do not compare.

The ones for $50 have a projectors but it is a cheap design and not meant for use with HIDs. The set I will be offering will actually be about the same price as those headlights and an HID kit. But there will be a big difference in performance because the parts I will be using were engineered to work together.

There's info on those pages and the prices for their services.... My friend and I have a lot of experience with this type of conversion and we can offer it a much lower price than anyone capable and willing to do this conversion.

will you b keeping the stock look? cause i've been lookin for a headlight package that looks like the knighsports kit for awhile now. ive seen some people start projects and it looks good but in the end u can always tell it was kinda homemade. what are you planning on doin with your project?

I'm basically using those diamond housings for the headlights to house the projectors. The look of the car (when headlights are up) will be updated (clear glass lenses) and the lighting performance will be much improved.
We've already done this for FD headlights and experienced no problems with the headlights flipping up and down.
The FD above has projectors that came off of a 2002 M3.

if everything turns out to b like the FD i think that you will sell alot of units if the price is right, although i wanted a more sleek pop-up headlight (like knightsports) im also really intrested what your planning on doin
