Any ideals?

I took the FC for a little 35 mile jaunt and stopped by a fast food place.
After making a fairly tight slow turn around toward the take out window I start hearing this loud clanking sound coming from underneath the car.
Of course it sounded 10 times worst pulling up along side the window.
But anyway it only seemed to occur when I while moving slowing and dissapated after putting it into neutral.

To me it sounded almost like the exhaust clanking againt the drive shaft.

Also this may be completely unrelated but I noticed while trying to back out of my parking spot that I couldn't get the car into reverse with out grinding it "almost like the clutch would give enough clearance to allow it.

After leaving the parking lot there was no more clanking but I tried reverse and it still grinds even on a flat surface all though if I press brutally hard on the clutch there is only a slight click putting it into reverse.

I've searched the forum and it looks like at best I might need to change the tranny fluid to some redline mt90. The car has 60K original miles and other wise is pristine.

I have a set of ramps but need to know where is the best place to jack the rear end up so I can get some cement blocks under the back tires.

Also I have no grinding or problems shifting in the forward gears.

Any ideals.

Thanks in advance.

Update I checked the exhaust it's fine. Checked reverse it's fine.

I only hear that sound when it is idling and the clutch is pushed in. If I put it in neutral even with the clutch in the sound goes away.

if I ease the clutch out just a bit and crawl in first I get the sound.

I'm guessing throw out bearing?

If so is this something that precludes the need for a new clutch?

Or is it even worst "something in the tranny" If so my new 350Z is going to get more use on it than I really wanted to give it this summer.

Well the best place to jack the car up is by the rearend chunck on the car. Sounds to me like the throw out bearing, pilot bearing, or maybe jsut maybe you broke a finger off of the pressure plate, but that may be way off. It is just a guess.
