With minimal work, you could put in S5 tail lights. But as for 'cool' like the altezza style you see everywhere, havnt seen any sort for the 2nd gen.

I say S5 tail lights is the way to go. Euro tails make the back end look ugly.

If ya want a somewhat more original look (since so many people convert to the s5 style) take the s5 light diffusion/texture plate out... some people don't like it... i think it looks alright, someone on the forums has a pic of thiers that they did... dont remember the name though.

Also search "Digitalsolo"s threads, and check his pictures of s4 tails that have been blacked out, its hawt. He recommends a spray to tint your tailights but I don't remember which one.

Good luck!

Thank God.
I think the s5 lights are your best bet. I personally have never seen better looking lights for our cars.

That was me who did that... It looks 100x better than stock.

It's a difficult procedure to do without cracking the lenses and making sure it's sealed properly.

I'll try and find the original thread I created a while ago.

those tails look damn nice with that piece taken out... i kind of did the same thing to one of my broken ones by accident when i was taking a part from it. i pulled that out and wondered to myself how it would look to assemble it like that. one thing though, i broke the hell out of the tail when i disassembled it (luckily it was already junk)

Stock ones painted to match the body look way way cooler than anything aftermarket.

I really think that the S4's are the best of the bunch. S5 lights look...out of place...

Mark, a few years back someone was refitting S4 tail lights with clear lenses on the brakes and flogged ones on the turn and reverse lamps...do you remember them? They were some really slick lights.

Yeah, I remember, but The only one that looked good was the ones with White/clear turn signals and reverse, but the rest of the lights the standard red.

The problem was though that he was just using overhead florescent light diffusers, so it never looked better than home made.

I thought they had the difusers material stuff behind lexan on the turns and reverse lights...and yeah, the brakes had clear lenses but they had red tint...lije what you see on a lot of cars today (ford focus comes to mind).

Yeah in good light, under close inspection, they didn't look professional at all.

Look a little bit better than stock though (IMO)...

Getting rid of the orange is key.

I had the original tails on my s4 TII (same as in my sig) painted to match the body like the AE's. Only difference is, the AE's have the center horizontal divider painted to match as well... I masked off this part so it remained black after the masking was removed. It seperated the taillights, but didn't devide them horizontally (both helped bring the tails out of the eighties in their own right, lol).

I almost forgot, I forgot to add that these previous taillights had the lower half (I.E. the turns and the reverse lights) 'blacked out' using VHT niteshade tinting spray... In essence, to get rid of the orange.

At night the turns glowed a deep amber/red.

I would suggest leaving a small surface area NON-TINTED on the reverse lights though. Makes backing up at night a real problem.

If you look close on the s4 tails, you can see where the best spot to leave clear is... It's a little rectangular patch that's reflective (or something) in the middle of the rev. light.
I did *this* on my s4 N/A and it looked factory.

I agree in part.
I think the S4 tails look good during the day but I like the S5 better at night then the S4.
Also color matched is the way to go for dark colors or white.
I saw it on a light blue car and a red car before and wasn't digging it to much.

Here's a link to some LED tails on the forum.
