Another Idle thread (searched)
I have a 86 n/a with a fresh rebuild with 1050 miles on it.
I have to hold the gas to till its warm to get it to idle. and when its idling it stumbles around and will sometimes be on the verge of dying. when i change the idle screw on top of the block it doesnt do anything.
i adjusted the tps with the light test and got it in spec. im still goign to head out to pick and pull and grab a new tps tomorrow.
have checked for vac leaks and fixed a couple but i still cant get it to idle steadily.
it almost sounds like its missing or something. so i replaced the spark plugs, but that didnt help.
i do have a small exhaust leak that i have not tacked down yet. could that be the cause?

Most likes an exhaust leak, the holding the gas pedal down until it warms is usually associated with a bad water thermo sensor. Surging idle as well might have to do with adjusting you tps

DON'T play with the idle screw unless you're not using the stock idle system.
with such low miles, the motor hasn't worn in yet, the seals aren't sealing fully and you're just experiencing a low compression motor. it will pass in time.
however, keeping your foot on the gas when cold and it nearly dying when you let go means that your cold star system is stuck/incorrectly adjusted
check your cold start system (thermowax) behind the Throttle body, and make sure it's operating/adjusted in specs.
