Another Car wont start thread. i searched.
I bought this car recently.
The only mechanical problem was the starter being bad so the car had to be jump started. I drove the car all the way from atlanta georgia to charleston south carolina and i had no problem. Once i get here i change out the starter with a new one. The car now cranks but wont start.
Im running an rtek and i ran the diagnostic on it and it didnt say anything was wrong.
last time i had this problem with my other tii it was the cas and the rtek said it was.
any suggestions?
car is a s4 tii with a s5 tii engine with a s4 front cover being ran off the s4 tii wiring harness and the rtek 2.1

i thought i did, but the p.o. told me that when the car floods just floor it because the rtek works like the s5 to where all you have to do is floor it.
and also i have a fuel cut off switch. i turned it off and i tried cranking the car. then i turned it on and it didnt do anything

Yeah I'd take the plugs out and crank it for a few seconds (I think you should still take out the EGI fuse for this, so you don't get sparking within the cloud of fuel that will come out) and add a little oil into the holes and try to start it again.

(trying to start and keep an engine running) there is no load on the
engine, and I see no real way that damage could occur. The worse thing
that'll happen is you could flood the engine with too much fluid, or you
could not spray enough and it'll lean out and stall. You can't cause
detonation or anything without significant load and intake temps,
neither of which are present under startup conditions.

I took the ic off today (its a stock topmount) and unplugged the plug behind the alt. I then put the plug back and the ic. I cranked the car and it started after the second try. It then idled for around 7 minutes and then shut off and wont start again.

What are the four main things an engine needs? Fuel, air, and spark, and compression. Simple. Air is easy, so we can knock that out. If she ran good before, then chances are the problem is not compression. Is she getting fuel? Is the pump good? Injectors? Next thing is spark. Check for spark. Past that, if it's intermittent, then there has to be a problem with something that controls fuel or spark. Don't make this any harder than you have to.
