All in all, I still dig my cars styling. The other thing I'm thinking of doing is getting some white Volks SE37K's in 17 x 7.5. I think that'd look pretty cool as well.

So you worry what a bodykit will look like in 5 years? Mazda themselves thought the car to be outdated enough to change it completely... the '79-81s look outdated compared to the '82-85s, which look outdated compared to the '86-88, which look outdated compared to the '89-91s, which look outdated next to the '93s... Doesn't mean they look bad. It means that they are a product of their times as sure as anything else. They are mass marketed, mass produced, and changed as they went even by Mazda, who knew they were a compromise even when they made them.
I would hope you like the way they look, as it's pretty dumb to buy a car you don't like. But it's also dumb to tell someone else that they are dumb for making the car look a bit more the way they like.

No, you're not the only one. A lot of bodykit maufacturers have worked wonders for other cars, but nobody seems to have a clue with the RX-7. Nothing appeals to me. The only body changes I would ever make to an FC would be a front lip. Not even the whole bumper, just a little air dam on the bottom. Other than that, looks great.

I know when I got mine, there was nothing out there that appealed to me, either. I would have liked maybe a litle wider flares, but that's about it. But I did make a nice molded in rear spoiler and a slightly deeper lip on the stock front dam. While many people here don't like the mechanicals I did after the car died, the body has always been well recieved:

My Stock '86
I love my stock '86 Base. When I painted it I went to a little more effort and painted the body side moldings, spoiler and wheels (phone dial type) the same color as the body. The painted pieces really help to modernize the car. I have had several non rotary people ask me if it was new. I have also added the later tailights.
I think driving this car is about the most fun you can have with your clothes on.
If my finances ever get better (not likely with two daughters in college) I am gonna get the new rex when it comes out. 'Till then I will continue to drive my old one, and wear a silly grin every time I get in it. I am 48 years old and feel like a teenager when I drive this incredible car.
To those who understand no explaination is necessary. To those who do not understand, no explaination will suffice.

never in any of my posts did i call someone dumb for doing anything.
you can do what you like, i was just giving my opinion. you probably have done just about everything i would never do to an rx-7, but i don't realy care what you do to YOUR car, this thread was intended to express my opinion. take it or leave it.

Personally i think the styling of the rx7s is obsolete, and kind of (getting old)... I would say coil overs droped an inch with some nice 17s .. thats like a must to have your car look somewhat good,
They have some nicebodykits on rx7.com but whot he **** are going to pay those pathetic *** prices

I personally like the styling of the Rx7 alot. I would get a front end(RE Amemiya like soul assasin's) if I had the money. That one is not like the combat or whatever else they have for the civics that tries to make the car look different. It just opens the front end up & changes the lights & makes the front lower some. Its not all wild with all these cuts in it and everything. I just like to make my cars look different & a body kit can do that. Everyone has their own style & taste, so just do what floats your boat-not someone else's
