Am I missing something on Brake Pad Prices?
I'm looking at Mazdatrix, and for the rear pads, it's 77 bucks. Autozone has the same pads, for 25. Am I missing something here, or are the ones from Mazdatrix REALLY that much better?

I'm just curious why Mazdatrix would try to sell them for 77 bucks *Which i'm sure there's a reason, I just don't know it..*
Are the Duralast pads horrible to get?
And is there a way I could get a set for every tire for a good price elsewhere?

So, why are Duralast pads junk?? please back up that statement with something like...yeah I tried duralast pads they didn't stop the car worth crap and they didn't last long. Or is it because they are $25 and you think everything that cheap is junk?

Hawk HPS pads are $49 for the rear axle from tirerack.com. They are one of if not the best pads you can get. Duralast, while they will stop the car, probably won't stop it nearly as well. I have used similar (or the same for all I know) pads on my daily driver and they just don't stop very well. Also, the reason they are expensive from Mazdatrix is because they sell OEM parts which are expensive.
That said, NEVER skimp on brake parts. That is the single most important item on the car. Also, I don't want to sound like a dick, but if you can't afford an extra $30 bucks for a vastly superior set of brake pads then you are driving the wrong car.

Thanks for the details on why Duralast pads suck, I won't buy them now. How about Bendix pads:

Go to tirerack and get Hawk pads. They are worth the extra few dollars. I didnt get any fading at all this past week at DGRR where as last year I wouled get fading half way through lap 2 of back to back runs. The only draw back is higher dusting.

Also if you are thinking about the carquest blue pads, skip on those. The fronts hum when hot and the backs squeal when cold. I think I paid around $45 or 50 for the back set from them and $55 on the fronts.

these will be going on a DD vert, so I don't need racing pads of any sorts. I did think about going with the raybestos pads, sicne i used them before on other cars and never had a problem...plus they have a lifetime warranty.

Hawk HPS aren't racing pads, just good heavy duty street pads. HP+ are mild racing (auto-x, etc) pads and Hawk Blue and Black are racing pads. I know that there are cheaper ones that are OK, but when you are talking about a difference of 20-25 bucks I think its worth it.
