Am I crazy to do this?
After a lot of thinking and research I have decicded that I am going to keep my t2 completely stock!!! Well with the exception of a new suspension cause the car is 21 years old after all... Has anyone else gone this route? I just don't have the time or the patience to deal with issues that changing things out will cause... Don't get me wrong I would love to have a faster car but in the long run i don't think it will be worth it...

Sometimes it takes more time and patience to go back 100% stock when parts need to be replaced.. **** my car is so Illegal its not funny.. all my exuast parts wore out and my cat died. SO i just put in a pipe. My airpump went out i just yanked it. and my A/C.. Now one of my duel mufflers is plugged up.. PFFFFFFFT

I am a stocker owner. I did however modify the exhaust slightly, but everything else in the engine compartment is stock.
I can't afford it, but if I could, I'd go with an rtek and get it tuned real well somewhere. I imagine that would be the most reliable option. It seems any issues I have had are related to the stock ECU.

If you are happy with the way the car is, then keep it that way. There's no law that says you have to mod the car and these cars are great fun in stock form. I'd say put a different catback on it for a bit of a better sound, but that's just me.
So many people jump into modding their cars and get themselves into a mess, turning an otherwise great car into a pile of junk.

i have a stock turbo 2. its pretty fun but things tend to break. interior plastic, i just have to be more gentle... bought shocks but should of kept stock springs.. gotta get rear stock springs again. after market will only bring trouble. unless you upgrade to coilovers maybe. i replaced the slave clutch cylinder but rebuilt the master. bought new starter and replaced back lights with 89+.
so far i am satisfied with the stock look and everything, but i kinda want a s5 bumper.
