aluminum hood to steel hood latch issues?
I heard there may be problems with the latch but i don't remember if that's for going from aluminum to steel or from steel to aluminum
I don't really care about the extra 30 lbs on my vert anyways :p

The answer to Pnoy's question is that the Steel hood latch is looking for about 56 pounds when you slam the hood,so If the 28 pound aluminum hood is placed on the car then you will have to give it some extra UMPH So it will secure.
In some instances it will not work and you would need the proper latch for the proper hood.
If you have an aluminum hood latch then the steel one is going to work OK,as the extra poundage from the steel hood will make sure that it latches.

I haven't had an issue with mine. As styx said, it needs a little extra umph to shut the hood. I just apply the pressure directly above the latch and it works perfectly fine.

Please enlighten me, i want to know which thread i started that required i remove a lightbulb?
And even if i did my question is still a legitimate question and i don't know why you make such dumb replies, grow a pair and don't make yourself look like a fool next time.
And thanks styx, i knew there would be a problem with the hood latch system but I'm glad it isn't going from aluminum to steel hoods lol
I'm also guessing the steel turbo hood is a sort of "rare" hood since i remember reading a thread where it said they were found only on early model turbos

alot of steel turbo hoods were aftermarket. You used to be able to buy TII hoods from aftermarket crash parts companies, now they just sell the flat hoods.
Back in 95 when I needed a new hood for my vert I was going to get a new TII steel hood but it didnt come with the scoop and no one had them around except the dealer, the scoop was big $$
I ran with a steel aftermarket hood on that vert up untill a few years ago. To be honest steel hoods LOOK better then the alum, the alum distorts slightly where the adhesives are.

To add to what Styx said, putting a steel hood on a car with a latch designed for the aluminum hood will make it difficult to pop the hood. The spring on the convertible latch is weaker so it doesn't make the hood so hard to shut. When you put a heavier steel hood on, you can still pop the hood, but you'll need to either put the hood on far enough back to where you'll have a larger gap by the headlights, or pop the headlights up every time you go to pop the hood. Otherwise, you won't be able to get your fingers in there to help pull the hood up.

i had a chunk of rubber that came with the hood to protect the corners I would wedge under the hood release, then it was pretty easy to grab it by the headlights, pretty good gaps from the factory.
I ran that hood for a long *** time and actually regret removing it, it was nicer then the alum one i have now
