alternator wire

Got my engine out and just thought it would be a good idea to replace the alternator wire. I looked and there are two wires joined at a single terminal lug (alternator end), and I followed them where they split off. One goes to the fuse box and the other to a connector.

So I figure the only one I really need to change is the one to the fuse box? I think this is the charging wire? The other wire with the connector goes the voltmeter gauge? The wires look really wimpy--any recommendation on what gauge to use?

I believe one of the two wires goes to the Meter fuse.

If your talking about the large output wire on the alternator..............it's spliced into the wire that feeds your ignition switch. Cut that one off and say goodbye to starting your car or feeding anything other than the battery busses.

Page A-2 or your series five wiring diagram. Same ole same ole on series four cars.
