Question Alternator Removal

I've tried the search but had no luck. I'm trying to get to my Coolant Temp. Sensor Connector so I can replace it. I can't seem to get enough wiring to work on, so I think the easiest way to get enough space is to remove the alternator, am I wrong?

I'm wondering if these two bolts are the only ones holding the alternator in place? Also, would I have to re-adjust the belt tension? Or would returning it to the same height be sufficient?

Thank you in advance!

Yep, those are the only two holding in the alternator. When putting it back on, you'll probably have to readjust it or at least, that's what I do everything I remove it.

Yes those are the two mounting bolts. I found it easier to remove the altenator when i replaced my coolent sensor as well

the left bolt circled is a pivot mount bolt and just keeps the alt. in place and the right bolt is the tension adjusting/mount bolt. When adjusting the tension on the alt. I just tighten the tenson bolt most of he way and then pull up on the alt until theres decent tension on the belt and then finish tightening the bolt.

do not over torque the bolt though, the soft aluminum of the alt mount can strip or you can break the bolt off inside the mount. (ive done both)

Sounds good! Thanks guys. So readjusting the tension again, basically tighten the bolt just enough to move the alternator and push it back up, until the belt gets some good tension? Over-doing the tension would be bad, right? I just want to be doing everything correctly. Thanks everyone!

Yeah (I have been told anyways) that too much belt tension in bad. especially if the belts are old an worn, can cause them to break on you I Assume. Just get a feel for where you belt is before loosening the alt and then try to match it when re-adjusting it.
