When I tighten the belt, it seems to "bend in" towards the middle of the pulley, only making good contact on the sides.

Can someone list the measurements (diameter, width between front and back of pulley and inner height, in inches) of the alternator pulley for comparison?

Thank you

The belt should only ride on the sides. I don't have any measurements to give you. I think they might be worn. They can wear from dirt/sand and high amounts of usage. If I were you I'd look on the forum for a replacement pulley or two.

you know one time I put my fan back on and didn't put all the screws and bolts on it (attaching it to the water pump) and man did it start to squeal bad only when warm! So I replaced all the pulleys and still did the same thing finally the last thing I did was put all the bolts on and made sure they where tight and it got rid of the squealing noise.

Yeah hey sorry to post on a 16 year old thread but I’m having the exact same issue here, belt slipping at all RPM’s, all warning lights on indicating the alternator is being under driven, and there’s no clear answer in this thread but I have the EXACT same problem. Plus I have my air pump still so I can’t run a dual pulley. Anyone know what could be causing this? Motor has about 6k miles on it and I don’t know if the water pump and the other pulleys were replaced or not after the rebuild. There’s a little oxidation on my e-shaft pulley could that be causing it? I’ve noticed a little rubber build up on my alt pulley as well, and this is a brand new high quality belt.
