loosen ALT. bolts
remove stock fan with 10MM wrench (can be hard at times)
if i remember correctly the the belts (power steering and A/C) may be in the way
loosen the nuts for these on the pulleys and remove them also.

remove fan shroud
remove the ac, ps, and air pump belts (by loosing the the adjuster bolt so u can just slide them off
loosen the alt adjuster bolt, slip off the alt belt over the fan (about 2-3 blades at a time)
put everthing back in reverse

just finished doing it!
Ok, for future reference:
Replacing Alternator belt for the fc
- You do not need to remove the fan nor fan shroud. Belt will slip right over the fan.
- loosen the adjustable pulleys, and loosen the other belts.
- loosen the alternator. Make a mark on the bracket so you know where to adjust it to later.
- slip the belt over the fan and onto the alternator pulleys
- adjust alternator accordingly, and work your way backwords
you will need a 24mm, 16, 14, 12, 10mm sockets.
Labor: took me 1hr more or less.
Cheers.

You people make it sounds so complicated. I can change my belt in literaly 2 or 3 minutes from removing the old one to having the new one on and running again. Loosen the 12mm bolt on the adjustment "thing" for lack of better word at the moment. Loosen the larger 14mm bolt on the pivot. Take the belt off the pulley. Slide it around the fan, blade by blade till its off. Reverse for reinstallation...
There are no 24mm bolts or nuts anywhere on the alternator. Near the battery? You sure you werent messing with the a/c pump or something? Even then I dont know if there is a 24mm bolt or nut.

You have not lived until you've done this at the side of the road, stuck on Yonge St. in downtown Toronto, on a Sunday afternoon, in a rainstorm, with nothing but a set of Vice Grips....
Long story short there is no real need to remove the fan. Simply loosen all other belts to the point where you can slide the alternator belt under them, and then wiggle the belt over the fan, alternately moving it from side to side until it clears one of the blades. Then slip it off the remaining blade. No need to remove the fan or anything else.

It is simply an innovation in the "hot rodding" spirit. Perhaps you could make one too.

I just use my 1/2" socket wrench and jam it under there and lift up.

The only thing not immediately obvious (but completely intuitive and common for this type of adjuster) is that the center hex is tapped with RH threads on one end and LH on the other. This makes it possible for the total length to expand/contract as the center is rotated.
