almost fixed :(

well, my 89TII had a really bad hesitation, and idles like a v8 and runs like **** until 3k.

Heres what I did,

check cats....fixed exhaust leaks.
replace o2 sensor
replace fuel filter
replace plugs and wires
checked as best I could for vac leaks
made sure good grounds..
checked compression..good.

after I did all that, the hesitation is fixed, once I get past 3k, I get full and good power through all gears , feels like new...

but , it still idles like a v-8 and stumbles until 3k???? any suggestions now??

i think it might be a partially clogged injector or still a vac leak somewhere????

any other thoughts?

Mine had a similar problem and one of four things finally fixed it:

1. Replaced the primary injectors
2. Replaced the intake manifold gasket
3. Did grounding at boost sensor and ECU
4. Found the connector coming off the harness to the O2 sensor was bad.

Mine is an 88 na, but ran pretty much the same way. If I slowly raised RPM in neutral, it would actually drop down at a few spots before 3k and the idle sucked.

Hope this helps.

thanks

bobr, i wish your o2 sensor trick was the problem?....it wasn't ....

Thats what I think I have to do next....check the injectors, and make sure I don't have any kind of leak.....
